JCV File Size When Updating Map

FWIW, I took the plunge and updated my 2460 North American map from 2013.10 to 2013.30 (I know .40 is due out in a month or so, but that's not irrelevant). I used they MapUpdater at myGarmin, not the Lifetime Updater, and I unchecked the option at the end re Lifetime Updater.
Before the update, the JCV file was 460,009 kb. After the update it is 459,424 kb.
Both versions were/are the half screen JCV version. At first I preferred the full screen version, but I grew to like being able to see the map and JCV at the same time. My main complaint was with the limited locations for which JCV would pop up on my 1490. After switching to the 2460 I love the larger number of JCV'd locations.

Thanks, but according to this quote from a post by CraigW on the thread you cited, the JCV file I noted above should be the correct full size file for my 2460, split screen style.
"If you have a newer nuvi that receives either a roughly 400-500MB (for split screen JVs) or a 700-800MB (older full screen JVs) file as the default JCV file when doing map updates, you do NOT need to manually download and copy this large file from rame1012 or Garmin for use. You already are receiving the ideal JCV file for your newer nuvi."

I wasn't paying attention. I see now that you no longer use the 1490, but now you have a 2460.

Have you tried the full screen yet? I prefer it on my 3790 over the split. Try it, you may like it.

I tried it while back and liked it, but liked the split screen better because you can see the map and JCV at the same time. With the 5" screen, there's enough real estate to view both.
