poi doesn't display (nuvi 1350)

i am newbee @ this. i have a nuvi 1350. i have downloaded a low clearence gfx to my pc. have downloaded the poi loader, hooked the nuvi to the pc and appeared to transfer the file to the nuvi. when i browse the nuvi from the pc i see a file called low clearance.gfi under the poi folder. i cannot fine the poi using the garmin gui. have looked under where to, extra and used the spell in there and in the poi spell. nothing. i also show nothing under the where to extras . where can it be and how do i use it. thanks

Try this

Welcome to The Factory. You may be missing one final step--and you wouldn't be the first to have this issue.

Since it appears that POI Loader has successfully installed your POIs onto your nuvi, try this:

As you've already done, tap Where To, then Extras.

You should now see a line that says Custom POIs and you need to tap that as well. With luck, you should now see your installed Low-Clearance POIs and you can tap that line to bring up individual POI locations.

Assuming this works, note that you'll be shown the closest 50 Low-Clearance POIs "as the raven flies." Tap the one you want to go to and you can tap "Go" and be directed to it. Once Go has been tapped, you'll switch from "as the crow flies" to "as the route goes" which is almost always a larger distance.

Shout back if you still have issues.

thanks

feel like such a dumbsh**. now just how do I or can I get Nuvi to use this poi for alerts on a full time basis after it is turned on.
thanks

Poi doesn't display in Garmin

Thanks Craig. I have the same problem.

Try this first

For alerts, the easiest way to activate them is to run POI Loader in Manual (not Express) mode, then for the POI file for which you want alerts, manually set the alert and choose an alert distance. For Low-Clearance alerts, I might start with 15,000 feet or so.

Two more thoughts:

If alerts don't work along your route once set, we may need to look at TourGuides, but let's try straight POI alerts first.

If you want more than a "ding," you can select more appropriate alerts for each POI file. See:

http://www.poi-factory.com/files/LowClearance_0.mp3

And of course, you can also add an icon:

Just remember standard

Just remember standard alerts only work when you are routed somewhere, and the alert point lands on that route. With a tour guide you don't have to be in route mode.
