Keeping The Windmill Alive – September 2025

Perhaps you can post on a new book you're reading, a new hobby you're taking up or about random finds as you finally get around to cleaning out the..., or your most recent adventure?

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

Please keep comments polite.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Vacation Next Week

Flying out west next week. This holiday weekend was too crowded and too expensive so next week made more sense to travel.

Happy Labor Day

Happy start to September

Weirdness...

My laptop is being totally weird today. I'm getting weird error messages and I'm worried I might have acquired a stupid virus of some kind. It looks like I'll be spending time running various tests and stuff. BAH! I hate stuff like this. I have stuff I'd rather do than spend time fixing random crud some dirtbag put out there. It's odd though as I'm quite careful about what I do online.

Are you sure?

Doesn't that depend on where you live? Lol

Have a good one, all.

We went

to Delaware again yesterday, and stopped by a restaurant we found with pre pandemic pricing and huge portions (we took home 60% of our dishes). Today I stayed home while wife and son went swimming.

But imho I got a lot done. Changed the oil on her new car at 900 miles. Was incredibly easy, it would seem that truck based SUVs have a lot of things as accessible, unlike the crossover we last had.

I then trimmed the hedges, cut the lawn, washed her car (it's big), used the weed trimmer, then washed my car, and finally activated an Airtag.

I didn't bother with the new phone we got our son, just didn't want it to turn into a long affair and then the above doesn't get done.

At least I felt productive on this holiday.

Understandably so.

School bus 20 minutes late coming home.

Appt. was made by wife, such that if the school bus were on time, we could just make it.

Very stressful. Avoid. I got advice on another forum. Many of these stressful ordinary situations can be avoided (schedule later, or another day). They take years off of our lives at the tail end.

5 day RTO being the norm, traffic is the roughest it's been in about 5 1/2 years. It's interesting to me for anyone to threaten to walk now if they can't work remotely, sorta like being on the Titantic

Cruise

Went on our first cruise last week.

First cruise

Where did you go? If you haven't cruised there, try the Alaska cruise. That was my favorite, here in the US.

Fail...

Going to fail to keep my 5 weeks of posts alive to stay eligible for the Red Lights POI, etc. Will be out of the country for a month or so and likely won't get the post count in. Ah, well... I'll fix it when I get back.

NYC Idiocy

NYc has congestion pricing. There are lower till rates for traveling into the city after 9pm. So instead of going back home after a dental appointment, we headed upstate and came back after 9pm. They shut down the FDR drive for construction. The GPS did not know about it. I got off the FDR and took 2nd Ave. After several traffic lights and slow moving traffic I got on 2nd Ave. After a few blocks, 2nd Ave was shut down. The GPS did not know about that either. I detoured back down to the FDR and had to take the service road for a while until I was able to get back onto the FDR. Living in the city is a real nightmare. The city officials are very stupid and incompetent

NJ Tolls

I tried to avoid the NJ tolls. I spent hours in traffic on local streets

Lost in NJ or not Lost

It is very difficult driving in NJ. There are constant lane changes and roundabouts. I watch the GPS carefully. One minute I hink I made a wrong turn, The next minute I am back on the same road that I thought I had mistakenly gotten off of. How did people drive in NJ without getting lost before the GPS?

As is

our routine, we went to two rinks over Fri and Sat.
