What reliability issues?

It's interesting. I've seen comments about problems that other folks have with 2013.20, but I have a Nuvi 1450 and I have had NO problems at all with it. However, discretion being the better part of valor, I plan on waiting a couple of weeks after its release before installing the next map.

Yea, no 'reliability' problems on my 3790, or 775, either.

Reliability
I only, get problems with my 855 when I stick it in the hot sun and ask it to do too much. Like shuffle 2000 tunes and constantly recalculate. Poor Emily, just can't keep up.

Since loading 2013.20 I haave problems loading long routes. I get a message saying route to long and more data will be added along the way. I hope the new map might change that.

1. How do you know that?
2. What is the link for?
Before Garmin releases a map update to their customers they must first upload it to their servers. Knowing this, the maps then usually become available for download between 7 and 10 days later.
The link is to show that the maps have been upoladed to their servers. Another way of checking to see when the maps will be released is to go here
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1456&pvID=30132&ra=t...
and then click on the map. When you see the map has the new map version (example 2013.30) then you know that in a very short time the new map will be available for download.
The exact release date is unknown but both above methods will help somewhat with your guess.
Cheers

Routes with 2013.20
I have a custom POI of Iowa court houses. Using MapSourse I created a route to all 100 locations. The MapSource route was 15,459 miles long. I loaded that route into my 1490. Then I let the 1490 optimize the route. About 3 or 4 minutes later it had calculated a 2730 mile route.
Not bad.

Unimpressed with 2013.20
We just returned from a 5 week RV trip and I wanted to throw the thing out of the window more than a few times.
It would try to take us on alternate side routes, often ignoring the interstate that was easily available. Yes, the unit was set for faster time. Not for shortest route or any other setting. No avoidances were set that would account for it.

Yeah, it has been on the server for about 2 weeks now (this link was posted on another website 2 weeks ago), so my guess would be next week (either Oct 31st or the November 1st). Glad to see that Garmin is back on track.

... that your 1490 was able to calculate and optimize a 2700 mile route with 100 waypoints. I bet the new units with Trip Planner would choke on this ... would be interesting for someone to try.

Route changes/speed limit changes
We just returned from a 5 week RV trip and I wanted to throw the thing out of the window more than a few times.
It would try to take us on alternate side routes, often ignoring the interstate that was easily available. Yes, the unit was set for faster time. Not for shortest route or any other setting. No avoidances were set that would account for it.
I had the same problems, here's an example and my fix. There's a bypass around Jacksonville Fl., the GPS wanted to route me through Jacksonville and bypass the bypass, the speed limit for the bypass was 55 if I remember right, I created a simulated route on this highway and changed the speed limit from 55 to 70 on the GPS and now the GPS will route to this bypass since the speed limit has been changed and showing this would be the fastest route. I also did this for a bypass around Atlanta GA.
.
I had no problem with 2013.20 either . Looking forward to another update

The estimates of map release dates are just educated guesses and the speculation in this thread about the release of the North America 2013.30 for next week is just that ... speculation. If it does happen, it will only be a couple of weeks earlier than the original estimate. In the past, Garmin has been a couple of weeks later than the date we expected the new release. So maybe they will be a couple of weeks early this time.
I doubt if a quarterly map update has much impact on Garmin's revenue stream.

Maps seem ok
My maps seem ok on the 2450 but the satellites have been off this week.
We were past the roads to turn on before the map showed the car at them and announced them.
We would turn a corner and be in a parking lot on the map.
My map redraw was very slow.
Has anyone had this problem?

Routing!
I think that if you look through the comments, you will see that the older Garmins are having routing problems with the 2013.20 maps. The newer units seem to be fine.
In a previous thread somebody quoted a Garmin employee admitting that there was a problem with the routing algorithims in 2013.20. I agree with that, as my 660 does some obviously bad routing since the last d/l.
I am sure that with each map you also get new algorithims as I have noticed slight changes in the routing after installing a new map.
The Garmin employee implied that the error would be fixed in the 2013.30 map - we shall see.

Past History
Based on past releases, they should be available sometime between November 9-11 and possibly as late as November 19th as they were in 2009:
November 19, 2009 (Thu): 2010.30
November 11, 2010 (Thu): 2011.30
November 9, 2011 (Wed): 2012.30

I'm pretty sure the routing algorithms live in the unit software, not in the map data.
Still, since the unit software for routing differs on various models, it is not only possible but likely for a map update to give varying routing differences on different units and at different software revision levels.

I agree and will will explain why.
I never update my units software and use the DorkusNimrod method in bypassing this procedure before every map update
I always simulate the same route from point A to point B to see which way the unit will take me. Yes the avoidances are always the same and no there isn't any major construction or new roads between both points.
Depending on the map set I have on the unit it'll take me two different ways. Everytime I download new maps it'll vary back and forth from one way to the other thus confirming the above.
Cheers

Thanks for the heads up - I hope my neighborhood and changes to some streets in my town are in it this time around - it is now going on 3 years for my Navteq submissions.

Routing!
I have a StreetPilot C340 that I got lifetime maps for.
Since I loaded 2013.20 maps on it, I noticed that it seems to route via local roads rather that highways.
I must have missed the comments about this on other threads, since this is the first time I have heard of others having this problem.
Local roads
Do a search for Wacky routes. This problem was discussed and should be corrected by the 2013.30 release, according to the Garmin map programmer.
Re: No Problems
I have 2013.20 on my 765 also, as well as my 760, with no trouble on either one.
I have 2013.20 on my 765 and it has been fine.

I have a c340 as well, and updated the maps every time. I have not had any issues, I would suggest you check the settings and verify that you don't have highways avoided, or shortest route selected. Mine hasn't changed the routes it suggests, so I would suspect this could be the issue for you.

Have made multiple long trips with my nuvi 3590 and the 2013.20 maps gave me no problem.

2013.20 Works Well, But ...
2013.20 works well with my 3490 ... however, there is one problem that I noticed with far away destinations such as those located in the west coast. It will generate the first 80% of the route with more to come. I do not recall having such problem with the 3790 or 765. Let’s hope 2013.30 will fix that.

I had similar problems on my 2460. I had the option turned on to track my driving routes this slowed down new rout calculations substantially, espeacially on longer route calculations. If you have this enabled you may want to try it turned off and see if it helps.
