.

It's unlikely you will get anything from Garmin at this stage, doesn't hurt to have a look. Did you make a back-up of your unit?

caps lock broken?

Have you tried resetting your unit by pressing the lower right corner of the screen while turning it on?

Also, in the future please don't post in all caps as it's considered shouting. And...change your username unless you want spam.

5 years means firmware updates missed

If you're not tech savvy then it's likely you've never attempted to upgrade the firmware in the unit. Doing so could solve your problems and I encourage you to try it. Follow the instructions in the FAQ below.

Basemap only?

Check in map info and see if the current map is unchecked. You could be running the base map only.

Yes

Yes, that was my first thought, too. When searches can't be performed, a deselected City Navigator is the most likely problem and the quickest and easiest to check. Doing firmware updates is my 2nd thought as suggested as well.

465T

Just as a point of clarification, the nuvi 465T came out in April 2009, so your unit would be at most ~ 3 1/2 years old, not 5. But in any case out of warranty I'm afraid. If you determine that the City navigator maps are missing or damaged, you could try giving Garmin a call to see what they would do. On occasion they have been known to enable a download for an out of warranty unit. Or if necessary, you could buy a map update which should give you a new map.

Give Garmin a call if it is missing the map

I had a company 1350 that was 2 years old and it needed a map. They allowed (opened up) a download for that map and I was good to go.
It does need to be registered though.

Map Info

On the newer models, the installed maps can often be found by tapping Tools/Settings/myMaps.

On older models, it's often at Tools/Settings/Map/MapInfo.

On the nuvi 295W, it's found my tapping Settings/Navigation, then tapping the right-hand three horizontal bars, then Map Info.

What you're looking for on these pages is what maps are available and is the desired map checked. As indicated by some earlier, the most common cause for not being able to find an address or create a route is an unchecked but installed map.
