New Voice Version (Jill 3.0 & Voice Editor)

I read in a forum thread that the new version of the Jill voice (3.0) could not be edited with the current version (2.90) of TTS Voice Editor. Has this been corrected? If not can I take a previous version of Jill and copy it to my new Nuvi 2460 and have it be compatible with that unit?

I believe you can.

When I updated my 1490 I lost the Jill that I had edited. I found my old backup & installed the old Jill again. For some reason I had to edit the voice instructions again. Worked OK.

.

Personal preference here but I'm still at Jill v2.60 with modified volume and rate. I've tried all the later versions but always went back to v2.60.

Backups help in these cases... cool

Good information to have. I

Good information to have. I had never thought about keeping an old version of a voice before. Definitely makes sense.

Voice Versions

I've always wondered exactly what it is that they are changing whenver they issue a new voice "version".

I've always downloaded the latest verisonm, but never really noticed a difference in sound.

So what the heck is that they are usually tweaking with a new version ?

Check the Changelog in WebUpdater before you start the download. Examples appear here:

That is correct, the current version of TTS Voice Editor (V2.90) does not work with American Jill 3.0.
You would need to revert to Jill 2.90 or earlier from a backup since it's not available from the Garmin site.

I had emailed Turboccc (author of TTS Voice Editor) back in June advising him of the problem, but nobody has heard from him for a very long time now so his software remains at V2.90.

Link to post when Jill 3.0 first came out.
