Astronomy & Observatories
A small but growing collection of Astronomical observatories, astronomy departments and related facilities. These were garnered from a modified core list by the Nautical Almanac Office of the US Naval Observatory (about 40% of the sites), and expounded upon significantly. Most sites were cross-checked in Google Earth and/or topographic mapping software for accuracy. Feel free to contact me for corrections/updstes/additions.... This may be of use for professional and amateur astronomers, historians, and afficianados of science. These may also indicate dark sites for observing (note that I included more of these for the MD/DC/VA area, as I live in this region). There are a few space/science/astronomy/NASA HQ/research sites also included from this region - not observatory material per se, but definitely interesting influencers of astronomy...
