BaseCamp fails to launch

Hello everyone,
I am brand new to this forum ... so please be patient!
I own a Garmin Nuivi 1370T and a Zumo 550. The Nuivi originally came with both North American and European maps loaded in memory, one of the reasons I purchased it! I have since downloaded, to my computer the new North American maps as well as the new European map and I know I cannot both install them in memory. Hence I have added a micro SD card (8Gb). I am having difficulty loading on the SD card! I am following one of your members process (Strephon_Alkhalikoi) I have downloaded and installed BaseCamp ... but it fails to launch.
[BaseCamp has encountered an error accessing the Windows registry. Please contact Garmin support ...] I am on Windows Xp SP3 for your info.
I did rename the previous installed BaseCamp directory and reinstalled. No Joy!
Can anyone help?

Does your computer meet ALL the requirements of BaseCamp, as given here?
Uninstall BaseCamp entirely. Run a registry cleaner like CCleaner, then reinstall BaseCamp. If that doesn't work, then you have larger problems than BaseCamp, as your registry isn't functioning right. Therefore, a Windows XP problem.
