Garmin Comparison

I've searched and can't find anything, is there a comparison chart somewhere that compares different automobile Garmin GPS receivers and their features?

This should do it for you.

More Information

The Garmin site does not provide internal memory size of their units. Some models for Europe have more memory then their North America counterparts since the maps are larger.

It's nice to know what's available on a particular model. The more memory the better since the maps are constantly growing in size and many people must now use SD cards to fit the maps.

See this thread and scroll down for additions.

Memory is not an issue

Because memory can be added to units and is cheaper than dirt (so to speak).

Currently have: SP3, GPSMAP 276c, Nuvi 760T, Nuvi 3790LMT, Zumo 660T

Memory

Bramfrank, would you be kind enough to explain to us how we can add additional memory to our units.

That

That would be an SD card.

Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.

As muell9k posted

I personally would certainly like to know the available memory on a unit before purchasing it. As far as I'm concerned the sd card is a solution but also somewhat a hassle.

Internal Memory Advantage

That's exactly why I posted the thread link.
Adding an SD cards will surely provide more than enough memory, but the ease of a map update without being concerned if the map will fit, would be a feature worth considering before making a purchase.

I find it somewhat

I find it somewhat unacceptable that Garmin does not make it clear what the built in memory is in their advertisements. Even their cardboard displays that go with the units are not helpful.

Fred

Things Garmin doesn't mention

Maybe we can start a list of what Garmin should state to potential buyers. I'll start with:

-internal storage in GB (8 is gr8)
-is the vehicle mount powered (desirable) or does the power cord have to attach to the nuvi itself (undesirable)
-this is asking too much since it may change with each update, but for units with JV, what size is the JCV file, how many JVs are included, are they photorealistic or ...?

OK, it's your turn now to add

Bacon

I think they should include bacon with every unit. LOTS of bacon.

Bacon: Yes!

Then when the damned thing routes you into no-man's land to avoid traffic, you can chew on a tasty strip of bacon, and all will be well! Yes, definitely, they should include bacon!

If they made it clear, no one would buy>>>
