The top 5 iPhone 5 rumors

"According to the latest round of rumors and informed speculation, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will unveil its next iPhone in mid-September, with Sept. 12 the likely date. As with every iPhone launch, there has been a flurry of reports about what will be different with the next model. Speculation is running even higher than in years past because the gadget is due for a design upgrade: The iPhone 4S, introduced in October 2011, had improved internal specs but its design was essentially the same as that of its predecessor, the iPhone 4. Rumormongers have therefore built up expectations that the next iPhone will look significantly different than the last few models."

Why didn’t Henry think of that when GM and Chrysler started to use a steering wheel?

I am glad they will have a 4" screen and 4g, even though I am satisfied with my 4S, I would like to have the bigger screen. I am not disappointed that the new phone will be lacking NFC

Just Apple marketing scams.

Just Apple marketing scams. By next year they will have 5s or 6 come out to compete with Galaxy S4.

It's MARKETING

I do not like Apple but I give them credit for their outstanding marketing! I don't see it as a scam, just effective use of social and commercial media.

Of course, if you continually raise expectations and don't deliver, people will view this type of marketing as manipulation. And then there is usually a backlash. It seems that cynicism is starting to be applied to Apple products, as I see more and more articles on the 'Net with sarcastic headlines when referring to iPhone/iPad releases.

Like the fan dancer, anticipation is often far better than what is delivered. smile

That's because

That's because there is a certain percentage of people that just distrust, envy & just plain hate the success of others. Same thing happened to Microsoft a while ago.

A while back, my daughter told me that the head of marketing at Apple had been her classmate at the university when she was an undergrad working on her B.S. degree in Anthropology.

I Phone..?

Who the heck needs a I Phone :?

My basic "stand alone" PanTech Breeze cell phone does exactly what I want it to (nothing more, nothing less).... making and receiving phone calls when I'm out and about. cool

I don't need a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Maserati that costs Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars $$$$ and does over 200 mph.. when all I'm going to do is drive two blocks away to my local Mom and Pop grocery store to buy a quart of milk. neutral

Or in my case I don't like their closed architecture.

Well mine isn't closed. It was a simple download to jailbreak, something that even this 77 year old could do. smile Same with my iPad 2 & 3. It must be the old hot rodder in me that likes to customize my "stuff".

What can you put on your "jailbroken" units that DOESN'T come from iTunes?

Believe me, there's a lot. I don't use any custom themes though. A couple apps I do use regularly are.

MyWi. Google it.
Backgrounder. ditto
My3G. ditto
LocationHolic. I love this one because I can watch MLB on my iDevices. Nothing special except I can spoof my location and watch my teams home games.
ICaughtU Pro. This is also pretty cool. If I should lose my phone, or it's stolen, iCaughtU Pro will eMail me with the picture & location of anyone that tries to unlock my iDevice with the wrong code
RingerSwitchTool. Allows me to customize the action of the hardware buttons.

There's more but I think I answered your DOESN'T question.

New iPhone

It's going to be a while for me. I got the 4S about 10 months ago. It's nice, but I don't drink the "gotta have the latest" Kool-aid.

I don't like Apple. While they do make good products, there are just too many things about the company, its philosophy and its culture I don't like. And those came out of the years I spent in Cupertino working for other firms that produced not only their own products, but components for them as well.

Can you help me out here? What do you mean by their philosophy & culture? And what does working in Cupertino for other firms have to do with you not liking Apple. Did you ever apply for a job there?
