Nuvi 34xx v.6.60 Released

Changes made from version 6.50 to 6.60:

*Fixed an issue with 2D landmarks not displaying by default for some locales.

*Fixed an issue with backwards Arabic map labels.

Guess it's safe to assume that the subcategory POI issue still remains...

Can anyone post details

Can anyone post details regarding the success of the update? I am traveling right now and don't want to mess up my GPS halfway through the trip.

No Problems so far

Installed 6.6 on my nuvi 3590lmt without any problems with the installation and all seems well. Did not resolve the POI category problem.

same here

same here

Installed on my 3490 & 3590

Installed on my 3490 & 3590 and have had NO issues.

POI sub-category is still no fixed.

Takes a while to update GPS

Updated my 3490 this morning. Be patient. This update took longer than usual to update once I restarted my unit. All went well but expect to wait a while.

will Garmin ever

fix the poi directory issue in our lifetimes?

Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

All went well with 6.60

All went well with 6.60 install on my 2595. POI sub-categories remain status-quo.

Change it back?

I don't know why they can't just change those lines of code back to what it was in version 6.20 in order to fix the POI sub-category issue. Maybe the other 'improvements' would also have to be re-written since they would break them if they did? Don't know for sure. Just speculating...

Just speculating here but I think it may be that making a code change to correct the POI sub-category issue might undo or break something else important that they fixed or introduced in v6.30. Obviously they can't just reverse it or they would have done it in one of the FOUR releases (one recalled) since. It's either that or they aren't really working on it at all and just paying us lip service since there is the complicated work-around we can use.

This has to be embarassing for Garmin. Here we have the sub-categories working fine on OLD units (like my 255W) but on their current top-of-the-line models and flagship they broke it with a firmware update and it doesn't work at all.

6.60 released for 2495lmt,

6.60 released for 2495lmt, categories not fixed

No issues so far..

Working OK for me. Hopefully the subcategory issue will be fixed soon.

Same here for Garmin nuvi 2555LMT

Certainly not a critical bug that prevents it from functioning, but highly annoying nonetheless.

Garmin Drive 61, nuvi 2597MT, too many really.

.

3490 v6.60 works fine for me as well. Personally, I really don't think Garmin is going to do anything about the POI category issue. Considering that all 2012 models are using this "new" method for displaying POI categories, I find it hard to believe that Garmin will change it back, but you never know. The new method for (re)building your POIs is linked below and it works fine for me across all of my units. I only have Redlight and Speed cam POI's to rebuild so it's not much of an issue, at least for me.

I think you're probably right. I can't see them changing this back anytime soon if at all. Time will tell. I guess if they receive numerous complaints, then they might.
