Got my 1st reboot of my 1490LMT

driving from nyc to DC.

i noticed it just rebooted.
then cant find my EcoRoute HD device.

the 1490 was sitting in the hot sun on my dashboard.

i figured it just overheated???

i pulled into a rest stop.

after i used the facilities, i started the car and everything was fine. 1490 saw my ecoroute hd.

so now that i am experiecing the bugs everyone is having w/their 1490, what can i do? (i just bought this gps 2months ago.. long past the return policy.)

Reboot

Yep, sounds like it overheated. It gets mighty hot on the dash. The processor probably overheated and shut itself down for protection.

.

Is your firmware up to date? For me, the latest firmware (V5.80, available since April) has been stable. The reboot problems were resolved by the V5.70 release in Jan 2012.

...and one reboot in two months is hardly chronic. Before V5.70, I had 5 reboots a month. grin

I place a baseball cap over the unit when parking. That works even on the hottest sunny days.

firmware update

My 765t used to reboot for no good reason. Since I updated to the latest frimware version, it has not once rebooted sicne. Yes, if it gets hor, it will reboof.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.
