Garmin Nuvi 3490LMT POI's and Red Light Camera

Hi, I'm a newbie here, planning to download Red light camera POI's on my new Nuvi 3490LMT, any feedback here?

Setting it up means i need to download POI Loader in Garmin website, buy and download "red light camera" files here then just use Garmin's POI loader right?

Yup.

That pretty well sums it up. Enjoy, and stick around at POI Factory. There is a lot to learn here and a lot of helpful members ready to share.

can't wait....

I just installed Garmin POI loader on my Apple Mac, got a month worth of subscription to Red Light Cameras, loaded it to my SD card, plug it in to my nuvi, rebooted and that's it, didn't chose to install it just in case, but everything seems OK, now to try it on the road.. Sad to say this option comes free to my old Tomtom Go910..

More importantly the knowledge you will gain at the POI factory site is priceless and may save you countless hours of frustration. People here go out of their way to provide help for those in need.

As for POI's, I know of no site that offers more with dedicated people who maintain them.

As for your comparison with Spotitout (PhantomAlert), I still would choose the POI Factory files. Read some reviews & comments at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/PhantomALERT-Detector-Software-Magella...

I don't like the notion of having to add 3rd party software to my Nuvi's. I want full control of what I put on the units.

Regarding updates, here at the Factory the Redlight files are updated weekly, I don't update weekly since many of the changes are places I won't be travelling to. Check out the change history:

In closing welcome to the site and best of luck in whatever decision you make in choosing RedLight camera files.

Satisfied!

I dont travel much (yet), but nice to have a device you can trust.. I'm staying here, dont have to check the other website, just noticed something , here you have a good "community" support.. unlike others..

I'd like to have more control , more options... just like you said, how i wish GARMIN would support LINUX, but thats going to be another topic here!

Thanks to ALL. smile

You have only reached the tip of the iceberg. There is still a lot more to discover. We are a great site and more than willing to offer our assistance.

Any luck with getting the redlight POI's to work with your device? I just purchased one myself, and in doing my research, it seems as though there will be no support from it's maker. I thought it was going to be included, come to find out the hard way that it isn't. Hoping POI factory is here for the save!

Great Info

Thanks, that is some good infor for me as I am a newbie also.
