At a distance

I'm interested in making a file using the locations of radio stations in the Mariners network. Some of them are in small towns off the main highway. How do I set the alerts for the maximum range so that I can change the radio dial without missing the game while going down the road? And what is the maximum range? Thanks in advance.

10,000!

Just to show how things are going here at The Factory, note that the above post was the 10,000th post in Creating POI Files (and the 1145th new Topic in that Forum)!

Shouldn't balloons be dropping from our ceilings?

This may help you

According to the FAQ it's 37 miles

If you set up your file as a radial TourGuide, it would give an alert if a tower coordinate is in a 37 mile radius of the current position of where the unit is located, hopefully your vehicle.

That explains the bubble machine on the roof

The basement is full of balloons too.

Testing?

I read the guides for the TourGuide and I think that I now have it. This brings me to the next problem. How can I test it without driving around the state? Can the simulator option of the GPS activate the alerts at a distance, without me leaving home?

Yes, alerts for POIs including TourGuides will occur using the simulator. Simulations run at normal speeds so can take a long time to complete. But you can Set your Location and start a simulation from that point.

Thanks

I've never used the simulator mode, but thanks for the information, I have more time to wait for it to run, than money for the gas tank to drive to the alerts.
