How does Traffic sponsored ads work on the Garmin 2360LMT?

Saw a good deal and thinking about getting a 2360LMT and see some reviews that talk about the traffic sponsored ads - they mention the ads pop up in the middle of the screen during navigation - is that the case?

I have a 765T now and I only see adds when I stop and they only appear in the upper portion of the screen. Did Garmin change the way the ads appear now?

Where did you hear that at an iPhone commercial?

on an amazon.com review:

That reviewer is an idiot, if you are navigating a route to a location the adds only shows up when the vehicle stops and is not that intrusive.

The only time the adds may show while driving is when you don't have a set destination.

This past weekend we drove 150 miles and there was not one add that showed up while in route.

Ads

I thought I would have been burdened with ad. Surprising its nothing to talk about. One seldom pops up. Haven't had one in about 3 weeks or more.

I have read that if you turn

I have read that if you turn off the traffic function, then you will not see any adds.

That is true...however, the ads are still cached on the unit (Have no idea for how long) so ads may still appear on the unit until the cache gets flushed.

Ads

The Ads don't really bother me at all as they don't come up that often at all.

Ads

I almost never see one of the ads. It is really a non event at least for me.

Traffic Pop Ups

I have a Nuvi 1450 and so far the traffic pop up's are minimal and only when stopped.

Cached Ads

The ads reside in the DDB\RDS_LBA.ddb folder, the actual file is RDS_LBA.ddb,
The folder is locaten in System\DDB in newer units, and in Garmin|DDB in older units.

It is safe to delete the file but it will reappear again if Traffic is activated.
Disable Traffic, then delete the file.

You can even delete the DDB folder if you wish, but that too will be recreated with traffic enabled and you are in the vicinity of one of the sponsors.

The Ads that do appear could be more useful, all I see is hotel Ads on my GPS, I could use some restaurant Ads. Save some money on going out.

The 1490 shows ads only when stopped.

Curious to hear your opinion on the pesky ads now that you got the unit, give us some feed back.

I just took my first drive with it a few minutes ago to go to the store. I didn't see any ads!

Does anyone know how to transfer my Favorites from my 765T to my new 2360??? I saw somewhere that someone suggested copying the current.gpx file - I did that but it didn't work, none of my favorites show up. I'd hate to have to re-enter all those things again! Any suggestions???

The ads show up for me when I am stopped during a drive.

Sometimes when I arrive at a destination too.

You're on the right track, but you need to rename current.gpx to something else (like temp.gpx) before you copy it into your 2360.
