Speed cameras et all

Is it better to lump the 2 files (RLC & speed cameras ) under one folder or divide them in sub folders?

Also, I'm having a hard time understanding why the speed limit thing on the Garmin doesn't automatically populate like it does on the TT. Any TT for that matter. I was trying the gps simulator on the 3490 and it does know the respective speed limits, however in real time it doesn't display. I did notice though when setting the correct speed, if you're driving at or slightly above the limit, it chooses the max speed setting for that area.

RLC & Speed cams

I put mine in the same folder. It works the same.

one folder

why two folders?

Folders for RLC & Speed Cameras

I read (it may have been on this site, although I'm not 100% certain of that) it was better to have sub folders to divi up the files than group them together. I know the RLC works fine in the 3490 as I drove into the city to test it.

Could a member clarify what a speed camera is as I'm not entirely certain.

exactly what the name implies

A speed camera snaps a photo of a vehicle exceeding the speed limit and whatever grace amount of speed set by the local authority. In MD that is exceeding the speed limit by 12 MPH or greater.

Makes no difference. Mine just happen to be in one directory named "Red Light - Speed Cameras" I have portland speed traps, red light camera and speed camera files in there. The portland one is kind of obsolete. Poi loader loads it just fine. I would say, it all depends how many custom poi's you have. The more you have the more you will want to organize it. I don't know about you, but when i'm looking for something I want to find it today not next week.

Same folder for me

I have RLC and speed camera in the same folder. Even you put them in separate folder will work the same.

I keep my RLC and Speed Camera files in the same folder, called "Alerts". I'm using a nuvi 760, so YMMV, but it shouldn't make a difference to the unit if they are in separate folders, or if you dump all your POI files into one folder.

Where you will see a difference is when you want to select a custom POI for routing - if you select "Extras" and Custom POI, the folders will show up as categories, with your individual files listed under that category. Since you will rarely (if ever) deliberately route yourself to a RLC, you probably don't want to see that file when you are looking for a Starbucks, for instance. I keep the RLC and Speed files in one folder, and have separate folders set up for things like "Fuel", "Fast Food", "Shopping", etc., with individual company files under each category.

All of mine are in the same

All of mine are in the same folder too

Same Folder

I have mine in the same folder as well. On another note as I was travelling to BestBuy, the police had a speed trap at there usual place and caught many riders, luckily I was only 9 km/h above the speed limit, so I am not really sure what their tolerance is in my city.
