.

According to the article, they (the military) have known about the vulnerability since 2003. Draw your own conclusions...

Self Destruct

I believe they don't like explosive self destruct systems on unmanned vehicles that are expected to be recovered (returned to base).

But a self initiated dive from 50k ft would do the job just as well, huh?

The Hack

I don't believe everything I read, but the hack makes a lot of sense. How else would they recover a minimally-damaged drone? Pretty sure it didn't float down into anyone's arms or airfield. The truth will come out someday. In any event, I hope our folks are taking another good look at vulnerabilities and not assuming that just because the population is still stuck in an Ox Cart world, that those in power don't have brains and tools to do serious mischief.

Not everyone in the US Military is dumber than us. Do you think they (the good guys neutral ) might have WANTED the drone to drop out of the sky?

Just a new spin on an old conspiracy theory razz

Thats a good thought.

Maybe the "bad" guys will think that is the "best" we have.

drones

It's funny how some aircraft when left on their own once out of gas will just glide in and land with minimal damage. There are instances of jet fighters that landed themselves after the pilot ejected and were repaired and put back into service. Not very common to be sure but it has happened in the past.

Story of F-106 that was in uncontrollable flat spin and pilot ejects only to recover and land itself.
