Red Lobster POI file

While passing through Arlington, TX. last evening I checked the POI files from here for Red Lobster. The closest showed as 12 miles. We went to another restaurant. While going back to the freeway we passed a Red Lobster, less than a mile from where I had made the search.

Today I checked the Nuvi internal file for the Red Lobster, it was there.

I checked the date on the file from here, it shows 11/09/2009.

I have lost confidence.

"Last updated" date

As I learned just recently in another thread, the "Last updated" date that appears at the top of a POI page may not be accurate. If you click on the owner's name (Perrdom) and check his list of POI files you'll see that the "Red Lobster - USA" files were last updated on Feb 02, 2010.

Dates are very close

The dates are of little difference. I am pointing out that the file is incorrect.

so fix it

So submit an update already! These files are created and maintained via numerous sources, not the least of which is users like us reporting new locations, closings, etc. Post latitude and longitude if you can, or otherwise just an address and it'll get added to the file.

Contact the maintainer

That's an indication that it's time to contact the POI Maintainer and offer corrections. When a Maintainer can't be found, it's time to contact TPTB and see if corrections can be made.

fix it

I agree with Nomad, rather than whining why you don’t contribute to get it right, send a message to the maintainer with the missing location address, if possible include the LAT/LONG

Perrdom hasn't been active on the site for over a year. I just recently picked up the maintenance of the Non-Chain BBQ, so his other files are open for adoption.

Not worth messing with, I'm Done.

Adios

Lets see, you don’t maintain any files nor do you want to help the maintainers with corrections, you just want to download files and expect them to be 100% accurate or else, then you post to gripe, and when someone ask you to contribute you just pick up your toys in a huff and say “Not worth messing with, I'm Done” I though this is a community where we all share and contribute to make the files as accurate as we possibly can, I’m sorry you see it differently.

New Maintainer

VersatileGuy offered to take over the Red Lobster files. I added a note to the files and set him up as maintainer.

Thanks VersatileGuy!

Jonathan

Perrdom has been maintaining

Perrdom has been maintaining a lot of files. That will be a great loss to the community. I hope others will try to pick some up and get them up to date.

What Goes Around...

That's too bad, because if somebody else had noticed the missing location earlier and reported it then you may not have been disappointed. Sometimes "what goes around comes around".

hooters

I took over the hooters POI from him awhile back. I know it has been mentioned a few times, but it would be neat to see a list of abandoned poisp to adopt.

I added that to my todo list. I hope to get something out in the next couple weeks.

Remembering Dom

If anyone remembers, Dom lost his bride of many years a while back to illness. I did email him, but after a while, I didn't get a reply.

I'm not sure if he ever recovered from his loss.

Dom, I hope you are well. We miss you.
