Garmin Lifetime Maps $64.99

Thanks

Thanks. Of course, if I bought one I'd have to buy another nuvi so I'll pass this time.

That's a very good price and it's straight from Amazon which I like best rather than being from one of the Featured Merchants or other Sellers where you need to check S&H, Return Policy, Buyers' Feedback, etc.

If I were looking for LM now, I'd buy now at this price for sure...and buy today, since the price could easily be $10 higher in the next day or two.

Price alert

Thanks.

I've got my price alert set to $60, but just dropped it to $50. New models that come with LM that I have been following are starting to move down in price rapidly. Even at $50 I'm hard pressed to buy an upgrade for my old 260 backup/mother in law unit.

No mother in law jokes please. smile

Lifetime of what/whom?

Does this Lifetime Map Purchase apply to your lifetime or to the unit that you use this on? For example, can I use the LMT on my nuvi 260 and once that gives up the ghost, start using it with a different one, say a nuvi 1350?

Or is it that once I start using it with the 260 that then I can't use it with any other device?

Thanks

one unit only

Whatever you registered the LT maps with. That's it.

About Lifetime "Anythings"

Lifetime purchases within the limitations of todays manufacturing (usually life expectancy a few years) sometimes looks attractive, but can be deceiving., Many people still battling TIVO over Lifetime Accts and their TIVO died, is an example. Even though it may be outlined in the fine print, it can hurt smile So far the POI factory has the Price Point I like., And BTW, TRAPSTER now has a DATA File for GARMIN and Tom Tom. That may be worth a look, Im loading tonite.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info Juggernaut. Also, thanks for the trapster info Wireless.

I went to their site and I'll also be loading the POI files that they have onto my garmin.

Agree price has to go lower..

As the lifetime refers to your Garmin and not yours should be round $50 by xmas time or in Jan.

Didn't I read some where that Garmin's contract with Navteq

is running out? What happens to life time maps subscriptions then?

Don't bother with Trapster.

They are full of errors and inaccuracies.

I too didn't read the fine print when opening the box on my LMT.

From Garmin website:

Garmin wrote:

Free Lifetime Map Updates entitle you to receive up to 4 map data updates per year, when and as such updates are made available on the Garmin website, for this specific Garmin product only until this product's useful life expires or Garmin no longer receives map data from its third party supplier, whichever is shorter.

It'll be interesting ...

I guess I should have read the fine print closer when I got my 2460LMT but, to tell the truth, my previous GPSs didn't very many map updates and it didn't really bother me much. It'll be interesting to see how the "Lifetime" issue plays itself out. question

Nuvi 2460

Depending on your usage. My

Depending on your usage. My GPS only lasted only about 3 years.

NAVTEQ

Is not Navteq only for traffic ?? Also would be nice if the map update include traffic too.instead be additional cost.Matter of fact on some new unit the traffic riceiver it is also free..why not make the same thing with older model?

"The agreement allows Garmin to continue using NAVTEQ data through 2015, with an option to renew for an additional four-year period."
