CN 2012.30

On one of foreign forums I found info, that few days ago Garmin had loaded on their servers CN Europe 2012.30. It is not being distributed yet, but it may indicate that in 2-3 weeks (maybe faster, who knows) there will be update available.

I know that last two or so times NA version was lagging behind Europe, but still, it should be released soon as well.

Did some snooping

Found references to CN 2012.30 for Israel, Australia & New Zealand, and elsewhere with dates on articles of Sep 18 & later for whatever that's worth...

I'll have to fire up the Automated Downloader again until the new version arrives.

November update

My 2012.20 folder shows 8/4/11 creation. That would mean a November date for the next release.

As kids, did you search the closet hiding places way before christmas?

2012.30

I saw somewhere that the new line of nuvis is supposed to be released on October 25th. It would seem that Garmin would release a brand new map update around the same time (probably on the 26th or 27th) to accommodate the new line of devices. That's just my speculation.

No new map yet

I just got a pop-up saying a new map was available... But I logged in to my.garmin.com and nothing there.

No worries

I'm sure it will be out someday. I'm equally sure someone here will be on top of things and let us all know when it's actually available. smile

I can't even get 2012.20. I still have 2012.10 but every time I go to update my map, it states that there are no map updates.

@bsp131

Do you have "right" to update maps on your device? Like one time update or lifetime update? A lot of people in topics about updates have lifetime update, and this is the reason everybody is waiting for new release.

In case you don't have "right" to update it should still show options to update maps by buying them. But if you have lifetime update and new versions are not showing on your account I would advice you to contact Garmin tech support. Maybe there is something messed up with your device registration. The only device I have and doesn't show updates is Oregon 400t, but there was no maps on it, except base map.

With Trepidation

I will load CNNA 2012.30 with some trepidation and will probably wait until others have gone first. After the JCV fiasco I am not ready to lose that feature having finally gotten it to work with the separately downloaded large file.

False Alarm

The updater notified me the other day, but it was telling me that 2012.2 was available, which I already had and has been available for a while.

Looking forward to 2012.3

There is a work around

No, I can not hold my breath to long. Also, my unit does not come with 8GB. However, I do have a spare 8GB microSD to come to the rescue. The only thing I hope is we can get the right JV the first time, not searching all over the net to find it like last time.

I REALLY hope I'm wrong

I hope I'm wrong, but I believe some of you are definitely not going to like what you get for your Junction View file. 2012.30 is expected to be released about 2 to 2-1/2 weeks after the 2012 lineup is supposed to be released (i.e. the end of October), which means the JCV files are going to be geared towards those units. I fully expect users of older 2GB units are going to get shafted again. Not because of reduced numbers of junction views - though that is a distinct possibility - but because of a shift to non-Photoreal Junction View files.

Like I said, I hope I am wrong. I have no proof, but based on Garmin's prior as well as current behavior I have my suspicions.

That is what worries me. I got burned on the 2012.20 update for my 765T and I am not looking forward to going through that fiasco again.

It is kind of ironic that having spent money on the lifetime map updates, we may wind up getting the updates but reduced functionality every time we update. I hope it is released around November 11th as that will give me time to flesh it out before my annual 10 hour Thanksgiving trip up north (not that I really need to update before that trip but there are some errors in the map I am hoping will be corrected).

Well, If they have representatives lurking around in this forum which they should they should have good feed back from users. If they don't act on it, it shows what kind of a marketing department they have. I would be very disappointed if they allow the memory issues and the JCV issues to continue. If they dont they should address it to let users know they are aware of the problems.

Yes, but they don't seem willing to modify the map installation program. They would rather spend their time writing useless programs.

Maybe the programers are limited in knowledge and it would be a bit embarrassing to bring in an out side team to fix it. Maybe they wont fix it in order to drive up demand for the newer models with more capacity - 8-16GB

Garmin nüvi 40000

Designed on the sleek and elegant form factor of Garmin's bestselling 3790, the nüvi 40000 comes with detail maps for the entire world on a generous 500GB solid state memory space. 50 billion POIs guarantees you'll never have difficulty finding a place to go, even in Cairo.

That would be one hell of a GPS.

It will be, but next update will need 500.1GB and Junction View files will need additional space smile But there will be build-in slot for Micro SD card, so you can split new maps between device and card, and still have space to manually load Junction View files on card grin

Nüvi 40000 is expensive!

Even worse, who would buy it? Knowing Garmin they probably would charge $4,000 for the privilege of owning one, and while they likely would offer lifetime updates they'd never synchronize the updates so they pop up on the same day, so updating would be hell for the user. grin

Thanks your info.

2012.30 map update has been uploaded to the server.

It looks like Garmin uploaded the latest map update for North America to the server around October 19th. For the last map update, the map update was released to users about two weeks after it was uploaded to the server. Therefore, the projected release date of 2012.30 for North America is November 3rd.

Hope Garmin will do the right thing this time and offer up the large JCV file so that us owners with small internal memories can load onto our SD cards.

I love the idea...

of being able to update new maps up to four times a year, but I will not run the risk of going through all that work (7 Nuvi's) and possibly lose my much adored JVC, because Garmin added a new street somewhere in "East Overshoe" Vermont.

Now don't get me wrong, I, as well as you all look forward to each new map edition like an upcoming spring, but I have learned over time that it also brings with it the chance of a glitch, i.e. the much diminished JVC file, and what had to be done to retrieve it!

Agg, we do a lot of traveling in a large RV, traveling anywhere from British Columbia to Key West...Nova Scotia to Arizona.

Junction views and lane assists are almost manditory when you are driving through a large "new" city, with multiple turns and expressways. Junction Views and Lane Assists give me the opportunity to get into the correct lane(s)
