I ran webupdater and said version 5.50 of the unit software was available. Interestingly, I don't see it listed on the Garmin site! From what I recall, the update from 5.40 to 5.50 includes improved Mac support and improved custom POI function. But my memory is a little fuzzy on the specifics.

didn't find it when I ran webupdater
I ran webupdater for my c330 and it said that software version 5.40 was the latest. Where did you find 5.50? How can it be installed if the webupdater doesn't find it?

krmidas correct
Just plugged C330 in - ran WebUpdater - it downloaded software version 5.50 which:
1. Improvement in Garmin USB support for Mac
2. Fixed problem with Custom POI Loading
Hopefully, this change will help me load POI's via my Mac
Not home right now so will test later !
Thanks for the heads up krmidas

no version 5.5 that I can find
Tried it again today and still no version 5.50. I don't understand why my garmin webupdater would not find it if others did? The updater would be looking in the same location on the web for all of us using the c330, I would like. What is up with this?
Garmin C330
Sorry
Can't help you on this -
I have checked on my C330 under tool/system/about and indeed V5.50 is loaded in unit !
If you haven't tried already - just have the Updater try to "reload" all software to see if it picks up V5.50 .
If it doesn't, all that should happen is that the old versions will be re-installed.
Just a thought !

A Question for robindriscoll
Are you using WebUpdater on a Mac ????
I happened to have used WebUpdater on a PC - because I wasn't
at home !
May be a quirk in the Mac beta WebUpdater software

No 5.50 available @ Garmin.
Everytime I use the WebUpdater, can only find 5.40.
Still have problems with POI's while using Beta (2.0.0.1)
Approx how many POI,s can be loaded without using SD card?
Thanks for any info.

What POI loading problem was corrected in ver 5.5
What POI problem did version 5.5 of the update correct? Has anyone determined that? I am using a PC. Thanks.
What 5.5 did for me
Problems only concerned Mac's
I own a C330- with V5.4 I could not transfer POI files with beta 2.0.0.1 of POI Loader for Mac - POI Loader could see my C330 but would not transfer the POI's. V5.5 fixed that !
Now the only remaining problem for me (and many others) with the Mac POI Loader is that you cannot set manual Proximity alerts.
Not a terrible deal for me as I have access to PC which allows manual settings !

C330 V5.50
Hi, everyone,
I use a Nuvi 660, but my neighbor just bought a C330. I plugged it into my computer and ran Webupdater. Version 5.50 was downloaded and installed. I have a question, though. My Nuvi is recognized as a drive on my computer, but the C330 was not. Now, running Webupdater, updater did recognize the 330 as a drive. I had originally intended to transfer my "GPX Current" file to the C330, but was unable to do so because I couldn't locate the unit in "explore". I also intended to transfer the contents of Garmin's Travel Guide to the 330, but no luck there either. The 330 didn't seem to recognize the SD card. What, if anything, am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Miki

version 5.5
It seems that version 5.5 is available to all at this time. I wasn't able to load it until I tried tonight. Does anyone know the specific problems with Custon POI files they addressed with the version? It would be nice if they updated the software to recognize the SD slot on the c330 to hold POI files.
Garmin C330
Robin I agree
Sure would be nice to use that nice "empty" 1 GB SD card for something besides a storage device.
The problem that the version update cured for me was that the POI Loader was unable to transfer POI's to my C330 (nicknamed Lila) - gave me "error communicating ........ " message even though it recognized my unit as the target device ! Anyway, POI Loader does everything now except allow me to set Manual Proximity alerts
Maybe we'll have that in the near future.
