Garmin 7200 distance errors

I loaded some custom POI's and everything seems to be good except the distance to at least some(haven't checked all) of the places seems to be wrong. One in particular shows 130 miles away but the maps show it 190 miles. I've Looked at both and they are the same place (Jacksonville AR and Baxter MO). Anybody have any such problems or suggestions what may be my problem?

All is well...

If you care to check it, the shorter distance is "as the crow flies" or as the satellites view it. Unfortunately, we need to travel on established roadways.

Yea but?

So my Garmin shows as the crow flies, not road miles???

That is correct.

...when you initially view pois (factory-loaded or custom) the distance shown is as the crow flies. Then if you elect to "GO" to that location, the actual road distances are used to calculte the time of arrival.

Nice to know

Thanks, that is certainly nice to know. The next time I'm camping on a lake I will check to see if the closest place is across the lake before I start driving!smile It might be a long way around.
