entering "County Road" & number in Gramin nuvi 1350LMT

OK, just bought this as my screen got broken on my 355w. I wish I could get all my favorites off the old unit as it still works but screen gone. I was trying to enter a address of a drive-in & it's on a county road #10. How do I get this to take on this unit. I did try "CR-10" CR10 & a couple of other ways but not taking.

Thanks

Try typing in "10" without the quotes. see if that works.

what area are you looking in? we can try it on our end to see what works.

I did not use quotes! trying

I did not use quotes!

trying to put this in the address as where to go.

36,752 Crediton Road
Grand Bend. which is in Ontario, Canada,
I did see on their site that this road is called county road #10 so tried that, but again no luck. I did come across this

43 17'09.78N - 81 40'14.98W

I entered this, but see that the N & W are at the start in the garmin. I did get this to work but the last number in each would not go into the unit.

Try

Enter "County Road 10", "Twp Rd 10", "Co. Rd. 10" or any other combination of words and abbreviation you can think of. Looking at the map in the unit to see how Garmin handles the road name might not help but then again it might. Garmin is funny about not using standard county road names or changing the name convention.

As for the coordinates, there are three notation proticals that Garmin can use. Make sure you unit is set to the same one that was used for the map coordinates.

Hook up to computer

Did you hook the 355 up to the computer and look at the drive?
I don't know how to do it but somewhere on this site it tells how to download your favorites to your computer then back to a new unit. Do some searches and see. Maybe that will help.

.

All you have to do to copy your favorites is plug the 355w into your computer and it will appear as a new drive. Then look for the file called current.gpx That's your favorites.

Copy that file to your new unit and you're good to go.

Looking at the map

Looking at the map, it appears as CR-10, so it does help! My favorite was driving around Houston on "Federated States of Micronesia 1960" instead of FM 1960 (guessing Farm to Market?)

It can be annoying sometimes to find an address, GPSs can be a bit finicky in what they accept.

Try this

I typed in your address after doing a "Search all", and it came up with South Huron, ON. Open the map and it will show it on CR-10.

Search all is the best way to do it.

South Huron, not Grand Bend?

When I searched in Grand Bend, it found two of them. One was listed as (Lambton Shores) and the other (South Huron). I selected both and was not able to locate CR-10, however when I did a search within South Huron, it pulled up CR-10. Seems like it does not like using Grand Bend as the city.

I am trying to keep a chart of ways to do things as I need them and this will be one for me to include.

Thanks, I did use goolge

Thanks, I did use goolge maps on the computer & found it said South Huron so thats what I used & it worked. Also it took the real name of the road & not the county raod 10 name.

Thanks for the tip about getting my favs out of the old unit.

Use a custom POI instead

Instead of creating a "favorite" everytime you want to save a location, try adding them to your Custom POI's instead.
I have exactly one "favorite:" my Home location. For all others, I use Google Earth to get the latitude/longitude of my destination. That way I don't have to worry about how to spell something like "CR-10." Of course I still have to find the destinations in GE, but if I can't find them there, I'm not going to find them in my GPSr either.

When we lived in Ontario a few years back the government was forcing all areas to 'name' their county roads. The locals will always know a road as County Road 10 but it's got an official name now, which is what the Nuvi will usually use.

The Same

I've done the same with names of CRs to no avail. I've started to use google earth to get the coordinates. This is only good if can plan ahead and don't want to go someplace on the fly.

Grand Bend is a bit of a strange place (not just on long weekends mrgreen ) as the town splits at the main intersection. South of there is in Lambton Shores. North of the intersection is in South Huron.
