Latest map update has screwed up default level of detail

Just updated to the latest map and now find that the default level of resolution is about 12,000 feet. In other words, just driving around 30 mph after turning on the unit, I see a map of the area with major roads shown within about eight miles. If I want to see what used to be the default resolution, I have to hit the plus sign about 10 times.

Anyone else had this problem?

And no, I did not change any of the default settings after updating the map.

Do you have to hit the plus

Do you have to hit the plus sign 10 times - and do this everytime you powerup the gps unit?

I updated 2 nuvi 765Ts,

I updated 2 nuvi 765Ts, first the firmware and support files with WebUpdater and then the map using MyGarmin. Neither has any problems. Both of the users like to use the 3D display.

I did a few other units with the same map updated to my PC and all of the units are fine.

The zumo 660 has a tendency to change the resolutions after map updates but after a few runs it is back to where I like it. I like the 2D with Track Up display and it usually starts with about 500-800 feet at slow speeds and 0.5 miles at highway speeds after a mapupdate.

When navigating at slow speeds I use the minus key to get to 200-300 feet and at highway speeds I set it to 0.2 miles. Afterwards it seems to understand what I set it to and auto zooms to those resolutions. The same with driving while not navigating.

I have to every time on my 1300LM. Hold the + button and it will autozoom in. I do wish however that it would remember the setting once I set it.

Hitting the plus

Well, depending on speed and other unknown factors, I may have to hit the plus sign between 5 and 12 times. This is new behavior.

Have you tried just driving? Mine goes to 300 meters at startup, but zooms in to 80 after I start driving.

I didn't mean that to be a dumb question! mrgreen

Interesting you have this problem. After the 2012.10 map update, it still works as before. I'm a bit puzzled.

My 2460 zooms in and out depending on my speed, and when on a limted access highway it zooms in on the interchanges I like that it does that.

Didn't mean to be dismissive, but the only way I would know it didn't work as expected would be to drive around at various speeds and see what happened. On a recent 1,800-mile trip, it behaved erratically -- sometimes zooming in concert with vehicle speed, and sometimes zooming out and staying there.

I finally got tired of messing with it, I leave it be unless I am in unknown territory nearing my destination...once again...thanks for nothing Garmin.

"You can't get there from here"

I've noticed on the last

I've noticed on the last two map updates for my 755t that when I get off on a exit ramp from an interstate or when I change to a new interstate my nuvi zooms way out until You see for the next few miles of road in a plan view not my usual road view then spin around to try and reorient itself then it zooms back in to where it was before it zoomed out. All this without me touching anything.

Any ideas ???

255W

I am not having this experience with my 255W and map 2012.10.
