Garmin 1490T Slow to Calculate

Anybody having problems with their 1490T taking a very long time to calculate a route to the destination. Not sure if it is having problems figuring out where it is after turn on or just needs a long time to process the info. Not sure if it is pulling data from the memory stick or internal device memory.

Mine is slow as well

When redrawing the map after recalculating, sometimes I'm shown as driving on an empty map. I suspect that I need to erase some of the unused data on the GPS. The processor must be overworked.

No Problem

No real problem here. Maybe a second or two to redraw the map sometimes. You might try clearing the trip log. Tools, My Data, scroll down to Clear Trip Log.

Mine seems slower than my old C530>>

or the TT 340...but I think it may be the high quality graphics just eat up some of the "thinkin' resources"...in any event...it's not unbearable for me.

First I have heard about

First I have heard about this issue.. I need to take a closer look at mine.

Lately mine has become slow too

It used to be extremely fast.
Now it seems to just sit there for a bit thinking.
It is very annoying.

No problems for me. I find

No problems for me. I find it quite fast in calculating routes compared to many other GPS units. What frustrates me all the time is that I can't avoid a certain roads, I don't want to take.

Not bad

The 1490t is much faster than my 295w.

.

Try a hard reset to clear out the cobwebs. Back up your Faves though.

slow nuvi

mine does that too! It takes forever and a day to process and load the destination. I will even hold it out the window, but my arm gets tired. It has taken over 5 minutes before it has loaded. Other users have said that their garmins are very fast so I do not know why mine isn't. It has always been slow to process. Also sometimes it does not give an arrival time. When I will power it up and click a point up interest, sometimes it still thinks I am where I was before so it loads poi's from the wrong location. How do I refresh it? Is it supposed to do that automatically?

Slow Nuvi

Mine was being slow to respond. I did the factory reset and my unit is just like new. make sure you backup all your waypoints before resetting.
Cheers

.

Mine was very slow and crashing too often. Found out it was nearly out of memory. Deleted all the foregin language voices and now it runs like brand new.

i think you are running out

i think you are running out of space on your GPS. try to create more space by deleting unnecessary stuff.

i think its supposed to do that, since i've seen a few of them do the same. you can just pick a recent address that is close to where you are and click go, this makes it bring back to current location faster. then you can search the poi from current location.

Thanks

thanks for the input. Nice to not be alone

Nuvi 265WT

For some reason my 265 was taking FOREVER this weekend when trying to calculate out a route down in St. Catherines. It almost seems like it was being biased about the area. Sitting and waiting for almost 5 minutes to go from 45% to 99%.
