Over a quarter million strong and growing...

When I joined this family, I was the 14,984th member (that was 3 years and 43 weeks ago). This family has now grown, to over a quarter of a million strong.

I take my hat off to MaryAnn and Jonathan for all their efforts in running "the best" POI site on the internet.

Keep up the good work!!!

Best regards,

Maybe I don't wanna know... Spent too many years in farms and pastures when I was a kid in Belgium... But I'll agree to it, if it happens to be a good thing.

CUZ THEY DESERVE IT ! They built the friendliest community I've seen so far smile

There are currently about 270K registered users. The million mark is still a ways in the future. smile

Still the best site to me

We may not have millions but the people that are here are some of the best informed. I have learned so much about my GARMINs and been able to make them do what I want.

Thanks to the thousands!

This thread has been dated close to a year now. No wonder it's all off.

4 years 32 weeks

Yikes, I've been hanging around here for 4 years and 32 weeks?

Seems like only yesterday I joined.

God, I would be lost without my daily POI Factory check-in.

Please keep up the good work.

I agree. The user list at

http://www.poi-factory.com/profile

shows 12672 pages @ 20 users each ~= 253,440 registered users

One reason for the discrepancy could be that bot registrations have been deleted. Sometimes if you check the site very early in the morning you'll see the new (bogus) registrations in the "Online users" list.

User count.

jgermann, there is probably a better way to do it, but one way is to find a new user such as tcsmithgeol, go to their profile, right click on their ID and select "Properties" you will get something like http://www.poi-factory.com/user/287486 which reveals their user ID number.

I wish that we could expand

I wish that we could expand to like user create best trip route. which is like a list of poi.

Registered users.

While it is interesting to know the total number of registered users, and not to take away from the popularity and value of this site, I think what keeps it going (besides JM and his committed dedication of course) are the "core" users that show up daily or at least several times a week and willingly share their expertise and friendship with new users and veterans alike. It would be interesting to know how many regulars there are. I am betting it is a smaller number than we think ... my optimistic guess is a couple thousand.

More Members Require More Staff

So let us not forget to give thanks to Angela (GlobeTurtle),
the newest staff member to assist Joanathn & MaryAnn.

Once in a while we get out of line and she keeps things running smoothly. My sincerest thanks to all staff members for their dedication and hard work.

I am quite impressed how current members welcome newbies. Other forums are not as accomodating to newbies compared to the POI Factory.
Sure they ask obvious questions, but they seem to always get answered and in a cordial manner.
I suppose that's why the numbers keep growing, word of mouth is the best advertisement.

recalculating

I wonder since POI-Factory inception how many have gone into permanent recalculating mode, I guess we will never know unless a family member logs in to tell us the sad news; the majority of the old timers here are in the late 60s or into their 70s

I hear in Facebook there are surrogate groups that you can give your user ID and password so they can log in using your account to break the news to your friends from your own FB wall.

Maybe JM knows or suspect who they are based on the logs

WOW!!!

Thank you Jonathan & MaryAnn and everyone else who makes this family awesome!!!

Some Stats...

There are currently 379 users with the active user (windmill) badge. These are users who have posted in at least 3 of the last 5 weeks.

A much larger number of users visit the site to read posts and/or download files. Over the last 12 months, the site has had about 2.5 million vists from nearly 1.9 million unique visitors. Not all register for a user account. Most view the site as guests.

You all can be proud of your participation on the site. It's helping a lot of folks use and enjoy GPS.

Jonathan (aka JM)

It is impressive.

THe staff encourages mutual helpfulness and the members come though.
From what I've seen, everyone gets a helpful answer. The shortest answer I've seen is something like, "Check out this thread", and there is a link to the information. Of course, the link connects you to the complete answer.

Congrats!!!!
