Accessing a specif POI file directly on the GPS

I have a 755T. After I download a POI file from POIFactory, let's say one entitled "Passport America Campgrounds", how do I access that specific list of locations while using my GPS unit in the field (not plugged into the computer). For example, I want to know just which campgrounds in a area are Passport America, not every CG in the area. Is there any way to bring up a specific POI file as titled and downloaded from POIFactory?

When you touch

When you touch where to,extras and touch custom pois last you will see your list.Touch Passport America Campgrounds and it will show the closest 50.Not sure what your custom poi file set up is but I prefer categories.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721

accessing the files on the SD card

I forgot to mention that I dowloaded all the various POI files onto the removable SD card in the Garmin. I know they are there because they show up when the device is hooked to the computer. How do I access them on the GPS unit when it's not hooked to the computer. The "MENU - EXTRAS - CUSTOM POIS method does not bring up the files I loaded to the SD card.

If it is like my 265WT, you

If it is like my 265WT, you would select Where to> Extras> All POI files> Passport America Campgrounds.
The unit then will start displaying a list of all the Passport America Campgrounds starting with the closest one to your location and you can keep pressing the down arrow to continue the list. It will show you the direction of the campground and the distance (as a crow flies) from you current location. And you can then select one at your choice and press go and it will guide you to it.

Tight lines

When you put them on SD Card

When you put them on SD Card did you use poiloader and get message so many custom pois loaded?
You should also get message if I want to transfer these pois to the unit after loading to sd card?

This is the process you would use.Connect your GPS to your computer using the usb cable.
1.Now run poi loader http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/ .
2.When you see screen find device make sure you select the proper one. For SD card use the pull down window .The arrow located across from device and selects the SD card.

you don't access the files

if you just copied the files onto the sd card, you can't access them using the gps. You must "Install" the files with POI loader, which actually reads the data and makes one file in the gps from all of the information. Once installed the POIs should be available to you under extras.

Although I have an extra micro-sd card for my nuvi, I only use it for large things, like extra topo maps. I find that there is plenty of memory in the gps itself for POI files, which tend to be modest in size. I suggest that you will be happier putting the POIs on the internal memory, although the extra sd card could be used instead.

Thanks all!

Thanks for the reminder that I have to use POI loader. I left that step out. And the dadgum icon is staring me in the face on my desktop! That was it.

I'm now able to access all the poi files that I downloaded from poi factory.

Thanks again.

GIGO strikes again! It was an EBKAC error: "Error Between Keyboard And Chair"
