Is there a way to backup the existing maps on Garmin t3790?
Unlike older Nuvi models(prior to the 1xxx I believe) the folder which contains the map files for the 3790T is, under Windows, a hidden systems file. Therefore by default you will not see this folder and will not be able to back it up using a simple copy/paste process.
The map files are contained in a folder called .system. Note that it is called DOT system.
In Windows you need to go into Folder options - View for the 3790's storage drive and insure that the OS is set to show Hidden Files Folders and Drives and also get rid of the check mark beside Hide Protected Operating System Files. Once these two changes are made you should beable to see the .system folder on the Nuvi and backup it's contents.
