the POI Jockey, easy custom trip downloads

All,

A new occupation?

A GPS enabeled person fills in some details about their upcomming trip, and gets back a custom list of POIs. For longer trips motels could be suggested or perhaps arrainged, fuel costs estimated with adjustmets for fueling time, (how far from the route, waiting time, cards accepted,,) and interesting rest breaks. Information about alternative routes, weather expectations, overall costs could be presented.

I need some informaion from you to help plan this trip:

0, start, end, places and times and dates, camping equiped, business pleasure, combination, places to avoid?

1, kind of vehicle, rental, own? (to avoid bottom scraping driveway humps trailer, no trailer, or long RV?)

2, kind of music, and acceptance of variety, (no pop rap for me!)

3, number and age of traveling companions.

4, discounts available, Golden Age Passport, freq. user bonuses from card companies etc.

5. place on the easy money, frugal, scruge scale.

6. taste in fast food. desireablity for unique slow food, alergys, vegetarian.

7. desire to avoid urban conjestion at rush hour.

fill it in and the POI jockey offers a custom POI list for the trip.

I am thinking of changing my moniker from "Cactus" to "Cactus-Man-Jack's top forty POIs! 'From Soho down to Brighton...'"

Makes no sense

This makes no sense at all. Is this a trip he is taking or something he wants to do as a job. Either way it is impossible to factor in all those variables.

Sounds like

It sounds like he's talking about a new occupation, either for him, or he's looking for someone that already does it. If that's not it I don't have a clue what he's talking about either.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

now i get it!

Castusmitch, I apologize for my previous message, guess I was a little rude on my response.

Last night after consuming a six pack of beer I re-read the posting and it finally made sense, it appears you want to offer a service of POI generating on the fly based on a response to your questionnaire.

#2 question doesn’t make sense, what difference does it make when creating a POI? most times when I stop is to eat and rest and never to go ballroom dancing.

#3 either, unless you are planning POIs for the geriatric folks where they can change their Depends pampers.

#5 are you planning POIs of the nearest dumpster dinning?

#6 you forgot people wearing dentures (avoid hard food).

#7 if you are not planning on driving between 7pm and 5am only you are bound to bump into urban congestion, then again older folks shouldn’t be driving at those hours.

Mitch,

Mitch, You should buy Microsoft Streets and Trips or Delorme Steet Atlas. I think you might even be able to download trial versions. These packages do most if not all of your suggested topics when planning trips. They both sell for under $100, which includes the GPS receiver that turns your laptop into a very powerful GPS and trip planner.

Mitch,

Was just at my local Sam's Club yesterday and they had Streets and Trips 2010 for $29.95 so the price is reasonable for sure. That's software only, minus the GPS receiver.
