Refurbished Units

Go for it not bad for the price I had my 350 refurbished for twice that price from garmin back in 07 because the screen cracked and they fixed it and no problems ever since.

Refurbished

NEVER......

Warranty?

With refurbished, read the warranty very carefully. Who do you have to send it to in case of repair? What is the coverage period? Is it covered the same as a new unit?

Interesting. Will check it

According to an Amazon phone rep their refurbs come with 30-day return to Amazon and full as-if-new Garmin warranty.

BTW, they also have 1450 refurbs for just $110. I'm kind of wary about why the refurb discount on these units is ~$60 when the refurb discount on Garmins is usually around $20-$25.

Thanks.

Good stuff - gracias.

Well Tigerdirect etc.. have been selling the 250/255 line of refurbs for $65-$72 for some time now. I bought two of them in the past year and can say that without a doubt it was the best deal I purchased all year. They come in Garmin packaging stating they are refurbs and you still get one free map update. Can't beat that with a stick.

So to say that Garmin refurbs are $20-$25 off is simply a mis-statement.

thanks!

thanks!

"Usually"

Well, a new 255 is $92 at Amazon, so I'd say the $20-$25 yardstick holds and your example fails. In any event, I said "usually," not "always," and from my looking it seems a fair assessment.

I would rather buy a Nuvi 1350T

A refurbished Nuvi 1350T is about $115.

Wow didn't know Amazon had

I'm continually amazed at the price drops of these things!
My first GPS was nearly 500 bux!

Gps price

I paid more for a Garmin StreetPilot c340 then I did for the 265wt when it first came out.Everything you read points to new cell phones with navigation driving the stand alone gps price down.Good for the customer.

whats the reason?

i never thought the phone gps would affect the prices in any way. i really thought that the gps competition was what was bringing the prices down. i mean tom tom, garmin, and magellan are lowering prices to maintain market share, yes/no?

this is a interesting question.

Prices

Prices must fluctuate wildly because tonight they are much higher than noted in this thread.

265WT at Amazon: $139.99
265WT refurb at TigerDirect: $119.99
Ditto at Amazon

255W at Amazon: $119.99
255W at TigerDirect: $129.99 (no refurb listed)
255W refurb at Amazon: $89.99

Now, compared to a couple of years ago, these are all great prices, but they certainly are not as low as noted by others here.

The old adage of "...you

The old adage of "...you snooze you lose" is relevant when talking about GPS & map pricing.
