I deleted Gmapprom.Img from my Nuvi 265w HELP!

Okay,
I know I deleted something that should not of been deleted. The Gmapprom.Img file and replaced it with some other. I really do not require "I told you so" comments. Like I have seen on other posts about this subject. I require help from someone who knows how to fix this. I am capable of doing any technical changes to this device. I don't want to pay garman 90 dollars. The device is fine just with messed up software. I would like to fix this myself.
I saved a back up copy of the file but I could not find it so it did not save.
The device when turned on says loader loading or something.
The device is unresponsive. It does not get past the first screen. Windows does not recognize the drive. It appears to be "bricked".
Is there a way to force load the file from windows?
Is there a way to physically open the device up and somehow flash the device with the proper file. Is there a way to put the proper file on the sd card and have the device boot from that? Can someone point me in the right direction.
I will not pay Garmin to fix this 3 year old gps for 90 dollars.
I know the file should not have been deleted so please refrain form the parenting as it will fall on deaf ears...The unit must have a way to get into the memory through jtag.
.
Let's see if I have the facts straight. ..... Garmin, so far won't help as the unit is older.
Wrong. Garmin IS willing to help fix the problem. But they want $90 which the OP is unwilling to pay. So I fail to see why the OP should go crying to the newspaper.
And I won't make any jokes about asking Marines to fix complicated computer equipment.

Fair comments.
I was trying to suggest that if all else fails perhaps Garmin can get some mileage out of assisting the OP. (Personally, I think the time has come "said the walrus to the carpenter" to bite the bullet and either pay the fee or get a new GPS.)
Having said that, I would be very interested in the fix - if one is found!

I hope that will help.

The OP is guaranteed to brick his unit using the repair firmware from your link since the information on that link applies to 3.5" nuvi 2x0 units. The OP has a 4.3" nuvi 2x5W which requires different firmware.
I already provided him with that link.

you can get the pc to
you can get the pc to reinstall the drivers for your garmin by holding the power button on and while your still holding the button in the on position insert the usb cable into the unit. Continue to hold your power button as the pc should recognize the unit and reinstall the drivers and allow you to see it.
It's Time
I think the time has come to replace the unit with a brand new one...Prices are so inexpensive these days it does not pay to fool around with an old unit and spend hard earned money to try and fix it. As hard as it may seem you will cause yourself more headaches if the unit is bricked trying to fix it...
