I'm trying to help my cousin with her new Chevy Suburban GPS unit. Looking through the GPS manual I wasn't able to locate the answer to my question. Thought maybe someone here might have the answer.

How to you change the orientation of the vehicle icon's travel on the map? It appears that the vehicle icon travels the direction (N,S,E,W)the car is going. So sometimes it is pointing to the floor of the car, side to side and sometimes up. Is there a setting that can be changed from showing the actual direction to just following the route?

There is a help file on their GPS unit that can be reached through the buttons on the side. They need to change the unit from North Up to Track Up. North Up shows which direction they are traveling by the orientation of the car.

As to the question "tom tom or garmin", I'm not sure what brand is factory installed in her vehicle.
