Sox.exe

I'm pretty sure that there are different versions of sox.exe and many don't work with Garmins so download and install the one Charlesd45 suggests.

on your PC hard drive do a search for PoiLoader.exe and copy the sox.exe into the same folder where PoilLoader.exe is located and you are ready to go.

Also besure you must have the file cygwin1.dll copy into that same folder.

I dont have the cygwin1.dll where can I get this at?

Don't worry about the cygwin1.dll.Just put the sox.exe file on your computer where poiloader is located.In my case XP my computer,local disk c then click the garmin folder.

do you also have to have each location in its own folder or can they be grouped together?

I tried that do I have to seperate the locations into there own privite folder IE
7-11

7/11.bmp
7/11.wav
7/11.csv

then do the same for the rest?

You can have all your csv,bmp and wav files all in one main folder or you can have categories.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721

By the way on the alerts. The biggest problems with the alerts and icons not working are the files not being named the same except for extensions and having double extensions. Double-check each of them. The best way to prevent double extensions is to go to your folder options in the control panel and click view then find hide extensions for known file types and remove the check mark. Click ok.This is for Windows XP.

Main folder =my pois.
7/11.bmp
7/11.wav
7/11.csv
rest stops.csv
rest stops.bmp
rest stops.wav

Put all the files in the main folder called my pois.

I would change 7/11 to seven eleven because you will be building in a speed alert using the numbers.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/29491

Thanks, do you have to ad .bmp to those files? they seem to come up w/o having them at the end. Does that have an effect?

No you don't have to have the bmp(icon) if you don't want them.They can be in any order.

I have been trying to figure where to put the sox.exe file also.

I never had a problem with the sox file but you fix it for me on my Garmin 350. I never had that problem before today.
