Poi-Factory Newbie Question (free update after 60 days)

I have a garmin nuvi 200W which I purchased late summer of 2008. I registered my garmin not long after, not knowing about the free update. Is there any way to get a free update even though may 60 days have come and gone or is the only way the buy an update?

Thanks

I think you are out of luck

I don't believe the update policy you are referring to existed in the summer of 2008 so that would be another reason why you wouldn't be eligible for the free update.

I have a secondhand 200W

I have a secondhand 200W that I registered once I got it, but about two years after it was turned on. I wasn't eligible for a free update for both reasons noted earlier.

Buy the maps and a SD card if you want to update the maps. Starting with the 2010 maps, the entire continental US no longer fits in the internal memory of the 200W. In my case, in addition to Canada and Mexico, I have to put California and Oregon on the SD card.

Garmin was only doing annual map updates prior to 2009. I think the 2009 map was issued in April of 2008. The first quarterly update was issued in January 2009 and was 2009.10. If your unit had the original 2009 maps, there would not have been a newer map available within your 60 day purchase window.

One can almost buy a new Garmin for what they want for the update maps.
