I searched but did not find...Nuvi 680 (factory reset)

I need to do a "COMPLETE" factory reset on my Nuvi 680. I searched the forums here and found a post that said to hold down the bottom right hand corner of the screen and then power it on and release and it would ask you "Are you sure you want to reset user data" or something to that effect. I did that and it did ask that and went through a short process and asked me a few questions and appeared to work and then went back to the desktop or main screen and when I hit "where to" and "favorites" the favorites were still there? In fact there were some "favorites" that I hadn't seen in quite a while that I'm sure weren't in there and visible for quite some time. Go figure... Well, that's a reset but not apparently a real factory reset...
Anyone have any ideas?

Delete all *.gpx files in the x:\Garmin\GPX folder on the nuvi. Then perform the master reset as before.

Resetting the 680
Disconnect external power.
Flip up antenna and press reset button (behind antenna).
Reconnect external power.

That's considered a soft reset and will not clear out favorites or reset the unit to factory defaults. The following is the hard/master reset:
