My $30 update finally worked last night and all is well. I signed up to be notified and if Amazon has it for the same price, I may just update my old Nuvi 350. I still use it around town, Tampa bay area, almost as much as my 755T.
No guarantee of course, but on stuff like the lifetime (one GPS only) map update for $69 or the one-time map update for $30, Amazon does tend to repeat such offers from time-to-time. So keep an eye peeled on Amazon and on POI Factory for announcements.
I'm glad to hear they fixed the codes, so they now work, for those of you who bought on Saturday or Sunday and had no joy. I figured they would. If you go to the Amazon webpage linked at the top of this thread, you can sign up to be notified by email if Amazon reinstates the $30 one-time upgrade offer. And I wouldn't be surprised if they did soon, because it originally was supposed to run until mid-May. They do sell out on special offers, sometimes in one day or less, so it's best to move fast if the price is right, but this special offer just got suspended because of the temporary glitch in codes, now fixed, so I think it may be available again soon.
Excellent. It's been two years for my GPS and looking at the updated map on Garmin's site, they finally included several new key roads I use frequently. Now to find my Amazon coupon code to make it even cheaper....
I spoke with Amazon Software Center yesterday and they indicated that they would be offering the $30 map upgrade again, now that Garmin has fixed the upload problem. Not a promise, just a maybe.

I just got off the phone with Garmin and they told me Amazon WOULD NOT be selling the map updates for $30 any longer. Who in the heck can you believe???? They have evidently had a backlash from other Garmin accounts asking what the H_ _ _ is going on here...Velly interesting..
I got mine on day1, but it took a lot of work. i casually told my brother with his 350 I didn't think there was an expiration posted on Amazon's 30 dollar deal, so he waited a couple of days...deal dead. He was still on 2008 maps too! I feel bad that I didn't push him to at least get the code ASAP.
This procedure only unlocks a downloaded map. I have the same issue as everyone else, maybe Amazon sold everyone the same product key????

The product key and instructions you receive from your purchase of a OneTime or lifetime numaps update should direct you to the proper update site. I think the procedure below is what you'll follow. Note that if you've not done this yet, logging into mygarmin will require the installation of Garmin Communicator--and if you haven't registered your GPS device, you'll need to do that before applying a map update code to a GPS.
then from your mygarmin home page, click "Manage maps:"
then click "Activate gift card" for the registered GPS device you wish to apply the Product Key you received from Amazon or from whomever you bought the OneTime or lifetime map update. You'll then be able to download and install the map update to your computer and GPS. Have your GPS connected to the computer via USB during this process.
One comment on Amazon's Customer Reviews said the "Activate Gift Card" page is not the web page to use. For those of you trying to use your new OneTime Product Key from Amazon, try going to the Unlock Maps page instead:
Sign into "mygarmin," click "myproducts" and select the GPS you wish to apply the update to, then click "Activate/unlock or update your mapping products," then click "Unlock On The Road/Trail maps" and enter your Product Key there.
And please, if it works for you, let us know here at POI Factory!
Waited until I got home to find my $5 code and of course the udpate is no longer availabe. Waited too long and could've really used the update. Next time I'll just jump on it.
Some folks had copied the garbled content that was produced by Amazon and pasted into notepad where it was readable. Happened tgo me, too, and I verified it in digital content as you did. Was out of town, but got a letter satying the probelms had been fixed...so I'll try an overnight update since it is supposed to take several hours. Crossing fingers....
I was waiting a few days until Garmin's server glitch was fixed, and now they have raised the price to $49. Clearly this is in response to the high demand and they deciding the price was too low.
I was going to buy, but would rather pay the regular price in a year than be a participant in Garmin's little scheme to renege on their original sale terms.

What Garmin sale scheme? Garmin sold the card to Amazon for a fixed price. That sale was probably done many weeks ago in order for Amazon to have them in stock. It is Amazon that controls the price offered to you. Do you blame the farmer because the store is no longer offering eggs at the 49 cents per dozen sale price they had last week and now charges $1.49 per dozen?

and I agree, at that price, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me, either. Nor do lifetime upgrades when they're for the life of an electronic device that is not designed to last a long time.
But, stay tuned... you never know. Amazon does repeat some though not all special offers on stuff like software downloads. They may be testing out demand at various price points.

I won't guarantee this, but the latest map update 2011.10 does include Mexico. I imagine this is the case for both the one-time and the lifetime numaps updates. It's possible that Amazon's text description hasn't caught up with the latest revision from Garmin. On the other hand, I vaguely remember a description of this Mexico issue and as odd as I remember, the full Mexico with detailed roads and POIs wouldn't appear until after two updates. Does anyone else remember this--and if so, can you show a link?
I wish I had seen this sooner the price is now at $49.95. But this post has been helpful in that I need to up my Nuvi and was going to go with Lifetime deal but it seems it felt that an update once very 2 yrs or so is all that is needed.
About ready to drop over. After almost three years I got an e-mail from Garmin today advertising a new map update. Both onetime and lifetime updates. Real shocker.
Yea, I missed it too but will keep my eyes peeled. Given what I've seen of my phone with Google Maps versus my Garmin, I'd have to say Garmin wins for now. They are introducing a Nuvi phone with nav in the very near future on T-mobile.
I have a question. My Nuvi 770 has world maps. The updates show North America and Europe. Does Garmin still update the world maps? If I update will I loose the Asian part of the world?
I downloaded and installed the 2010 map update from Amazon and to my dismay, it caused my Nuvi 360 to work slower, longer drawing time and slower moving maps. Even the river/lakes that is displayed below the roads when you go over a bridge, it's gone now after the map was updated to 2010.
I do have another 360 (my wife's) that the map hasn't been updated yet.
Is there any way I can rollback the map update or copy/transplant the map from my wife's 360 Nuvi?
No easy way to rollback the map update and no legal way to put your wife's maps on your Nuvi.
