Stupid Question, A master poi

I just got my Garmin 765t, I was looking to add the updated poi. Is there a master poi on poi factory, if not why? Seem like you just download everything put it on an sdhc card.

Second Question, does garmin update it's poi with the map updates? I noticed we still have a Miller Outpost in our area (and anchor blue) didn't they change names years ago?

Master POI

If you downloaded everything available at POI Factory, it is so huge, your nuvi would instantly crash. Its processing ability is limited. Only download the POIs that you are interested in.

Updated Garmin POI

The Garmin Built in POI is updated whenever a new map update is done. However, the sources for this information are not the best, and frequently the information is old. That is one of the reasons the users at this website create their own pois. For the ones that are included at this site, the information is usually more accurate than the built in pois.

A purpose of "Custom" pOI

is to have presumably current and accurate POI for those locations that are of interest to you. The ability to have those things that you really want at your fingertips without having to drill through a pile of stuff that is unimportant is a real plus for Custom POI.

As far as Updates on the POI

You should be able to FLAG bad POI's on your Garmin unit and then if and when you connect it to the Garmin web site it will send this data to the MAP provider and will get removed in the next update (Supposedly)

I flagged several location near my home that are no longer there, they NO LONGER show up on my Garmin unit in searches or on the maps, when I connected to Garmin it up loaded the data to them.

I have a Nuvi 750. Can you flag the bad POIs on it? If so where?

The 1xxx garmins have that

The 1xxx garmins have that ability to provide feedback on internal points of interest. You can report errors and once you report they will no longer show up for future searches. You can also give them ratings.Once the nuvi is hooked up to the computer report will be sent to Garmin.

If you want to read about it see http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/3130_OwnersManual.pdf page 10.

Looks like it could be included in update for other models?

Charlie. Nuvi 265 WT and Nuvi 2597 LMT. MapFactor Navigator - Offline Maps & GPS.

How its done on the 1XXX

Select a PIO, Touch the POI on the screen, and click the FEEDBACK bar at the bottom of the screen.

You can then Edit a rating, Report an Error or Edit the Phone number. Maybe this is not available on the other units???? sad
