I'm not sure whether I'm posting in the right forum. If so, please let me say sorry about it.
I have Nuvi 255w. I would like to update the map via garmin website. However, last time I did it, my nuvi couldn't work anymore. It said that "no detailed maps...". So, before doing it another time, I would like to back up eveything on my PC. However, as I tried to copy every files from GPS to PC, it always pop-up the error stated that "the .img file cannot copy", something like that. Is there any alternative way to back up Nuvi 255w instead of cpoying all files to PC?
Thank you so much for every answers.
Before beginning backup go to menu, select tools tab, select folder options, select view tab, select show hidden files and folders, un-check hide extensions of known file types. Now your ready to copy all files and folders.
Create directory such as Garmin 255W backup, past all files and folders there. The *.img file takes about 20-30 minutes to copy.
Next time you get the error post exactly what it says.
my english is bad, I'll try to explain. well ... I do not know what your operating system, win more if any of Mr. Bill Gates, you can open your explorer and go ... tools, folder options, then tab, view, find where're writing ... Hide protected operating system files, hide extensions for known file types, these two options is that is cleared ... the other option is just below that is ... Show hidden files and folders ... that you mark too ... Now press .. apply and OK ... GARMIN well, (all) they come with hidden files you can not delete any file or format, but you totally lose all the settings of your GPS ... Now that you've done all these settings of your explorer, now create a folder where you want, and copy all the files you see inside your GPS ... yes there is, I can ask one thing of you? I need the files that NUVI 255W or similar. you could send me a copy of this backup? my email is email@example.com. thank you

Welcome to POI Factory.
Why do you need someone else's backup? What exactly are you trying to do?
Please no one send their files to anyone else.
Glade to have you state this.
