Hi All,
I have a few POI's loaded with various proximity alerts. The alerts come up only when one is on the same street, or the selected route passes the POI.
Is there an option to have the alert show up based on RADIUS?
Thanks,
KGG

If you add TourGuide to the file name it will set as a radius alert.Make sure to use manual mode for poiloader to set the distance.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/13958 .

Yep.
Use the term TourGuide in the file name. For instance, TourGuide Cracker Barrel.csv; TourGuide Cracker Barrel.mp3, etc. Then use the POI loader to load these on your GPS. Use the manual function and set the distance that you want your alert to pop up. (I have mine set to 5280 for Cracker Barrel.) You can use this method for any of your POI's but don't over do it. It will get pretty boring if you use this for McDonald's since they are almost on every street corner.

Thank you
Thanks Everyone.
I will give that a try over the weekend.

You may want to build your alert distance in using Extra Poi Editor.
You can download Extra Poi Editor at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor and build the distance in for the alert. When you download the program if you get message about OCX file missing scroll down on the main page and under troubleshooting you will find the Extra Poi Editor Installer that you will need to download. Once installation is completed you will need to set up the preferences you want first. Under options click on preferences. For example using ft for input. Under units you will see editor, select Imperial/US. For Field Read select metric and Field save select Metric. After setting your preferences click on file and click open to select from your computer the file you want to build the distance alerts for. Then go to edit and click on replace field. Once the next screen comes up use the down arrow for Field name and pick proximity. Under new field value put in the distance in feet you want for the alert. Then click replace all. You now have distance set for each custom poi. Then save as a gpx file. You will lose the built in alert if you save as a csv file. The nice thing about this method is that you can use express mode for poiloader.

Except
Add TourGuide to end of file name, it will allow you to see the poi file description and cut off TourGuide if to long.
Like this
Cracker Barrel TourGuide.csv
Cracker Barrel TourGuide.mp3
Cracker Barrel TourGuide.bmp
Proximity distance wider than 20,000 feet (nearly two miles) is a problem for me living in large city area.
That is something that I did not know.

I faintly remember reading that somewhere, maybe it was in Gary Hayman's tips, but I had totally forgotten about that. That's the thing I like about this site; you can always learn something new. Thanks phillyguy19020 for keeping me straight and teaching others about the interesting field of GPS.

not quite working
well... I have been playing with renaming the filename... but not only do I not get ANY alerts anymore, the associated icon does not show any longer either (same filename as the poi csv)
my other, regular pois are fine though.
what am I missing?

The biggest problems with
The biggest problems with the alerts and icons not working are the files not being named the same except for extensions and having double extensions. Double-check each of them. The best way to prevent double extensions is to go to your folder options in the control panel and click view then find hide extensions for known file types and remove the check mark. Click ok.
Be sure TourGuide is like it is showing here.

Hi,
I actually copy and paste the filenames, and my extensions always show (my personal default).
I even tried renaming the POI file to something shorter and w/o the TourGuide - and now the alerts and icon does not show up anymore at all.
I did a complete remove and then a complete reload of all POI's. The redlight and speed are fine (warnings come as set under manual mode), but my other POI proximity warnings no longer show.

Getting somewhere...
I have loaded all POI files with the std loader and used manual mode - not too much effort for 5 POI files.
While tourguide worked finally, the unit would freeze up relatively often, so I decided to reset it (hold down lower right when powering on).
After the reset I reloaded all custom poi's, and so far (2 days) I have not had any no lockups.
I am wondering if I ask to much of the units memory/processing capability. "Fully loaded" I run:
a) US and Europe maps, set to highest display mode (Most)
a1) a couple of supplement maps (lakes) though unchecked in map-settings
b) 8GB+ of MP3's - shuffle playback via AUX
c) US Redlight and Speed POI's
d) 2 US Tourguide POI's (NTN/Buzztime locations)
Is there a limit to the amount of data the unit can handle at once?
