Magellan Maestro GPS 4040 says "The selected address is not valid" after map update?

So I updated my maps on my GPS. It works fine when I go to previous cities entered, but it messes up when I get to the part when i enter the street number. It says "The selected address is not valid. Please enter another address. At the top of the screen when I have to enter the street number, it says "2;\\.\\HDD\MAP\US48.imi | dbo3;\\.\\HDD\MAP\US4-_POI.poi".

I'm currently trying put the US48 files on again to see if it just messed up when I dragged them over :\. Help me out please!

Use the proper proceedure.........

Or to put it another way......read the directions.
A map update is NOT accomplished via "drag and drop" or any other straight copy operation.

If you got the new maps through a legitimate channel, it should have come with (inside) an update program.

If you have a pirate copy..........

I have a pirate copy because

I have a pirate copy because face it, 80 dollars is a freaking rip off when Garmin updates for FREE. I spent 100 bucks on my GPS only to find that it comes outdated so that I have to purchase more maps? That's ridiculous. But, the pirate got great reviews and many comments from people saying it works great... oh well, I'm moving my back ups back to it for now.

Not here.....

Doesn't make any difference WHY.
That's all just rationalization anyway.
THIS site doesn't cater to illegal activities.

The "update" probably won't get you that much "new" anyway. A lot of folks only update every 2-3 years.

Hope you get it working right again.
