Can somone check my first POI file and see if is ok ?

Also if I do not add a icon or alert I guess the unit will use a default?

Thanks!

POI Files

Looks great

The file looks great from my end;) Users can load their own icons and sounds using the manual mode setting to get alerts.

testing POI files on other systems?

Since my X-mas present (Nuvi 260w) and the discovery of this site, I'm all exited about POI's smile

So for my work I created also a POI-file for our 3 store locations, more like a playful test. I can of cos test my created POI's on my baby (Nuvi), but cannot test them on other systems like TomTom and Magellan.
Is there an application that can simulate these GPS's so I can see if my tiny POI is a success?

(for those interseted, I have them online on my companies website: http://www.worldofrugs.com/shop/pc/Locations.asp#GPS
As wer'e not a 'chain' company, I thought it would be best not to upload them to the POI list on this forum.)

Magellan POI Editor (program that converts and loads a .csv file on GPS) requires an unique name for each POI. I noticed your second and third lines have the same name "World of Rugs". In this case only one location would be saved in Magellan GPS.

I would upload it

I see no reason why you should not submit it here. You can upload a CSV and/or a GPX file. You took the time to create the file, may as well share it. smile

I actually exported them with Extra Poi Editor for the specific devices, so assume it went ok, just wanted to test them to make sure.
Thanks for noticing the 2nd and 3rd line and telling me that only 1 would be saved!
Going to adjust this right now wink, but before I do....
How does the Magellan handle those big POI's for example Startbucks then? Are those names also not the same?
I thought it would look more at the coordinates.

You sure about sharing?

The reason I didn't, is because I do not think there's many people on this forum that would have a lot of interest in only 1 store.
Better said: I do not want to add unuseful 'garbage' to this forum wink

But... If you think others / you would be interested in this POI, I will upload it (after my corrections).
Thanks!

Unique name

Every name has an additionall information, either location (crossstreets or city) or store number. For Magellan .csv file I would suggest you use fourth column for phone numbers. From entered coordination Magellan extracts the address (everything except the house number), so displayed on a Magellan GPS (at least those few a had my hand on) your information would look like:
Store name
Phone #
Address

Made them unique

Thanks for the info!
I made the names unique now, so hopefully it works wink
