Nuvi 755T $199.99 - any reason I shouldn't get this.

Costco has the Nuvi 755T for $199.99

Is there any reason why I should not snatch this up?

Thanks.

nuvi 755

No reason @ all. I really like my 755.

Go for it

If I needed to replace my 750, your 755T is what I'd go for.

I like it, go ahead and buy

I like it, go ahead and buy it. I never have a problem with mine 755.

A GPS can take you where You want to go but never where you WANT to be.

Go for it. It is a good deal.

Gets lost sometimes

I have the 755T Nuvi and it works great most of the time. But, I have found one problem with it that may or may not be common with other Nuvi's. When I am on a route and then insert a 'via' stop, it sometimes gets 'lost'. This happens when the via point is not EXACTLY on a road (for instance a Flying J fuel stop). The Nuvi thinks I am going off-road, repeatedly tells me to get back and then kind of gets hung up. I have to delete the current route and re-enter it again for it to start working properly again. I have the latest software updates, so do not know what the problem is.

Via

How are you inserting your via point? Selecting from a POI? pointing to a location on the map? entering an address?

I believe your Nuvi 755 is working just fine (as designed... that is). What you experience has been a problem for years with all Garmin units that allow via points in routes. If a viapoint is not almost exactly in the correct location to where you are the GPS just won't let go until it's happy that you arrived where "it" thinks the via point is located. It keeps trying to get you there !

Some of the older model GPS would allow you to manually remove a single problematic via point and continue your multi via route. These Nuvis don't allow that so you must re enter the entire route which is a real pain, especially if you are using multiple via points and it's not a saved route.

The problem is particularly noticible if you set up a series of via points using address look-ups such as going to yard sales because street addresses are interpolated (as opposed to being geocoded into the maps). Thus, they are generally close but more often than not, not close enough for the GPS to believe you've arrived.

There really is no absolute fix for this problem.

Thanks.

The Nuvi 755T has more more features than the 265WT

Costco is selling both for $199, and the 755T seems a better unit.

Snatch that puppy up!

$199 is a good price for that unit. I would snatch it up if i were you.

I heard 755t used to have

I heard 755t used to have screen calibration problems like the 765t. Most probably they are all fixed with new firmware updates. Also getting from Costco is a wonderful thing as you can return the unit to any local Costco if any problems arise.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. When I see the problem, I am on a route and then decide to stop someplace en-route. So I select the spot from Custom POI's via selecting along the current route. I got the Flying J POI file here and one station the coordinates are not quite correct. I guess the next time I am there, I will have to get the correct Lat/Long and send the corrections to the owner of the POI file.

I already ordered one, it

I already ordered one, it looks great as well can't wait for it

Michael (Nuvi 2639LMT)

I would buy 755 any time

I would buy 755 any time over 765. All it is missing is bluetooth which is piece of crap on 765 anyways.

I thought about buying one

I thought about buying one also!

Did you know that if you have a American Express card from Costco and you use it on any electronic purchase anywhere you will automatically get an additional year warranty?

Bought one too!

I also just ordered the 755t from Costco to replace my aging 200W. What's the view of the forum on purchasing the lifetime map updates?

Thanks All

Thanks everyone.

I ordered it.

I may have to do the same.

$120 for life time map is a great deal. Like tomtop or magelan charges $130 per pop. Think about it. But then, how often are you likely to replace your unit?

nuvi 755T

Bought my nuvi 755T through Amazon for around $180 in February and couldn't be happier. First major "assignment" was guiding us through the morning rush hour in Atlanta; easy to read and worked great...

About to get a second unit

I am about to get a second unit for our other car. Aside from the less than precise touchscreen, I love the unit.

The v4.00 FW fixes that. Enjoy!

I think there are some new units out there for not much more money. Costco has new 1490T for $169....I would check around to see what is available.

$$$$$

I find the cost of owning gps high.
They are expensive to buy latest tech and tend to break within 2 years or just be outdated.

Nuvi 755T $199.99 - any reason I shouldn't get this.

Check it out here if that's the one you want and save $50. I prefer my 1490, I like the bigger screen
