There are some interesting comments on the news story.

I didn't realize that a camera could detect ...

...turns without making a full stop. (see article)

I guess I thought they simply detected whether you were in the intersection during a red light.

Does this mean the cameras are actually taking video?

Or at least enough frames to detect this behavior?

Sending tickets for not completely stopping on red is often the most common type of ticket sent, even though rolling right turns seldom cause accidents. Doing this is simply another way that the city can take your hard earned money from you, with no benefit to anyone else.
