Hey - I know the Contributor of the Year (COY) is chosen by Miss POI and Jon, but if we could perhaps influence the selection by naming a person we as users feel is deserving, it may have some influence. Now that we are approaching the end of 2009, if you could vote for someone, who do you feel is the most deserving?
I like this idea, this is one of the more difficult decisions I have to make for this community.
Hard one but either turbo or mahoney
I ditto Turbo or Mahoney
Aophicius who is no longer active but was a mainstay with the Wal-Mart and other files for so long. Gary, we miss you.
My other is Turbo for the work he has put in in developing some excellent utilities for the Nuvi line. Did I mention they are free too?
I also recommend Turbo. In my humble opinion his contributions to our POI community greatly outweigh all others. Because of his EPE software people are now able to easily create & modify POI files. (There are other POI software out there but his is arguably the best, and free at that) And his TTSVoiceEditor software allows people to increase the volume of the TTS voices as well as create their own phrases. Both programs have made it possible for the average user to "customize" their Nuvi.
I also nominate Turbo. His programs allow people an amazing amount of control over their Nuvis and the data on them.
It's tough to pick only one person, though...mahoney, a_user, and perrdom each manage multiple files which many have found useful, and all are worthy of recognition.
I always have two Contributors of the year;)
MrKenFL quietly puts a lot of time and work into maintaining and improving the Highway Rest Area file. His file consistantly shows up as the number 1 download on the home page. He is always quick to update the file for any changes reported by Factory members or in the news.
Turbo and Ghayman are my candidates. As for ɐɯɐɯ ǝlɔʎɔɹoʇoɯ, should just have one big badge, for lifetime achievement.
for contributor of the year. His no-nonsense advice and commentary and timely notices about all things Garmin are always right on target.
