Where is the best place to get Coords

Hi there,

I downloaded the red light camer poi and it's great! Thanks for all the hard work.

We have some speed cameras in our area that would be great to add to the list but aren't currently there.

Question - What's the best way to get the coordinates for the camera - is a drive-by and snap of the coords right in front of the camera what's normally used or is it best to get out and get coords while standing right next to the cameras? These cameras are on the highway smile

Thanks!

Google Earth

Google EARTH will give you co-ords.

Use this link.

I think all you need to do is report the red light camera intersection with this link, and it will get added.

It can be found on the right side of the page just above ACTIVE Forum Topics.

Thanks for the help. These

Thanks for the help.

These are actually speed cameras up on the highway so intersections aren't really appropriate. I think I'll just snap the coords as I drive by.

Thanks!

you could do either

But be careful button pushing while driving!
If you want to create a poi file with some locations in your area. Google Earth would work fine, since you are familiar with the area, you could pin point and create your file in relatively short order.

If the camera is not near an intersection it may only be a traffic monitoring camera and nothing to worry about.

Definitely speed camers

These are definitely speed cameras. They're controversial and have been on the local news quite a bit. I'll get the coords and get them uploaded. Thanks for the help!

If they are not Redlight

If they are not Redlight cameras, but instead speed trap cameras.

It sounds like the perfect use for the "Speed" warning POI file type.
Speed warning tell you if your going over a preset speed.

The Redlight camera POI just warns you that you should stop and has no speed warning.
