Minneapolis Red Light Cameras Turned Off

There was a story on the local news that Red Light Cameras have been declared unconstitutional since they ticket the owner unless he proves he wasn't driving the car. This violates civil rights as declared by a local judge. I am not sure if this will impact other states or not. Here is the local article. http://wcco.com/crimesceneblog/local_blogentry_073171143.htm...

I am going to leave them in

I am going to leave them in the database and add a note to the comment field of these locations stating that they have been turned off.

There have been cases of other cities turning off their cameras and then turning them back on again later. Look at what is happening in the state of Virginia.

Miss Poi.

Add two in Iowa - a recent case in the Des Moines area found they violated other state laws - the civil penalties were different from the traffic offenses, and they were not reported to the DOT. A judge in SE Iowa ruled similarly earlier in the year. And our State legislature has a bill pending to flat out ban them entirely, passed one legislative body and is in the hands of the other. I hope they pass it, and our Governor signs it.
