At least here in Chicago, summer is going out the way it came in -- with cold/chilly weather. The temperatures dipped to low 50s this past weekend.

Oh where, oh where, did you go (did you even arrive), Summer (heat) 2009?

Ack! This Chicago summer didn't seem all to warm? I'm already dreading the winter and it's only Monday...

Wish it would rain

Pettitte looked good tonight.

6 perfect innings tonight for the Yankee vet. Then gave up 2 hits and 1 run.

Happy Tuesday everyone. Hope

Happy Tuesday everyone.
Hope you all have a great Laborday holiday

A2 year hobby

After having raccoons tear a hole in the roof of my 106 year old house (found out when it rained) last year, I took up a new hobby. After replacing the whole roof($9000)I started a catch and release program in my back yard. Since last summer I as of this morning have caught 34 raccoons and 13 opossums and released them in the country over 10 miles away. For them to return they would have to swim the Des Moines River and cross I-80 which has a concrete barrier as a median. I know that at the present time I have two more for while going through a Bass-Pro shop I purchased a Moultrie Digital Game Camera with infrared flash at night (wouldn't want the neighbors to see the flash at 3AM and find the camera gone) and have photographed them. During the winter I will use it to photograph birds at my feeders during the day.

My hobby

Woke up and found opossum 14 in my cage this morning. Does anyone have a guess of the average density of these animals per square mile? Last night I used leftover chicken scraps as bait. Maybe the animals have signs posted "good food this way"

I can tell that I have been lazy with the exercise lately. Jon wanted to go for a walk this morning and then it turned into a jog. We only went a mile and I was ready to crawl home.

I need to get back in shape.

Woodworking tools

Another woodworker and GPS junkie! Norm and NYW are one of the best shows for the beginning woodworker. You'll end up buying the tools as you need them for specific projects. My addiction was re-ignited with a new tablesaw almost 20 years ago.

Another very user friendly woodworking forum to check out is www.sawmillcreek.org. Very helpful folks hang out there.

As you have been doing this for two years, you must have trapped a skunk or two by now. So what do you do with them?

Whew....

Fire Season

Major fires here in LA. I hope they get them under control soon. Very smoky and has been overcast due to the smoke for about a week now.

Raccoons

So far I have not even seen a skunk dead on the streets where I live. If I caught one I would call city animal control from inside my house and windows closed and report a sick skunk in my back yard and let them take care of it.
Didn't catch anything last night but I blame the city for they cut down all the trees along the alley behind my house and I think it frightened the animals. Will see tomorrow.
