Routes on Nuvi 750

I am going to use my Nuvi 750 for walking tours in Italy.

I have made routes for my tours.

When I start a route then stop for a while to see attractions I plan on turning off the nuvi to save the battery.

My question is: If I turn off the nuvi during a route, when I turn it back on will I still be able to use the route even though I am not at the beginning of the route?

.

Hopefully someone else will confirm this but my recollection is that the unit WILL continue the route once you turn the unit back on. At least thats how I recall it working for me (haven't used routes in a while). I would be on the route, turn off the unit when I arrived at a destination, then turn the unit back on and it would automatically continue my route.

Note that when I turned the unit on I was always at the same location as when I turned the unit off. Not sure what will happen if you turn on the unit at a different location.

Not really the right tool for the job, but good luck trying.

Made me a case to put around my waist with a clear front to see if needed. Don't know why it won't be great. The screen is a lot larger than the hand gps and I need that. I can put it under my blouse so as not to be too noticed. Just voices!!!

Thanks anyway

I will make a local route and try this. Hope it works.
Thanks.

It will start where you left off

When you stop and re-start a route from the middle somewhere, it will ask if you want to navigate to the beginning of the route. You would of course respond No. It will then pick up from where you are and continue with the route.

Thanks

And now the longer answer... If you just pull into a restaurant and stop/restart the route, you're fine.

If you take a significant side trip such as to a restaurant that's a few miles off your route, it will not navigate you back to the closest "entry point" to get back on the route when you restart the route. It will just say "please drive to highlighted route" and leave you to figure out where the highlighted route is and how to get there. The map will show your current location and the highlighted route will be off-screen, several miles away.

What I found really helpful is when I take a significant detour from the route and I know I plan on rejoining the route later, I stop the route and save my current location. Then navigate to my side trip location. When I want to continue back on the route, I navigate back to my saved location. By then I am in sight of where I exited the route and I can restart the route and easily join it again.

Great

Thanks so much for the information. This is so nice to know, gives me a since of security.

The one question I have now, do I stop the route then turn off gps or just turn off the gps without stoping the route? Does it make a difference?

If you turn it off it will continue with the route when you turn it back on.

Thanks

Thank you very much. I do appreciate all the help. Hopefully all will go great in Italy.
