Nuvi 7x5 Routing question

Does anyone know how a Nuvi 7x5 series does routing and trip time estimates? I have a 755T and it seems much more accurate in trip times then my previous nuvi 600 series, but does this mean it now uses average speed data in each map update? If so, I will definetley be subscribing to lifetime map updates.

New speed data is always included with new maps. It is not clear to me whether this is done by having specific average speeds associated with every foot of roadway, or by placing all roads into categories and then having average speeds for each type of road. Supposedly, the unit also adjusts its estimates over time to the driver's history on roads of the same type.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
