Garmin complaints

Just an observation: I'm new to the Factory, but so far I've noticed a lot of people complaining about Garmin, price, service, & quality. However, they all have them, I'm sorry I don't understand, I'm on my second unit & I think they do a great job & the service that Garmin has given me is great....apparently I'm wrong...By the way, so is this site...Great

A Good Report

Even when people try to offer a good report and do it in a manner like this, we find others who find a way to see a negative thread hanging from the outfit.
Come on guys, there is good and bad in every area in life, it is just how we handle the bad and appreciate the good that make us balanced in our approach to daily living.
A winning attitude is learning to accept the opinions of others and not condemn them for having one.
Let's try to avoid response when another provokes you by their opinion, remember the shoe will be on the other foot soon.
I have an 885T and apart from the one problem that affected most of the units, my Nuvi has performed as expected
It takes two to argue!!!

Well... All companies do this. Does not matter who it is be it Software, Automotive, Electronics, etc... We are all their proverbial lab rats! smile

chewbacca, I could be wrong but think he was pulling our legs. He sounds like a satisfied customer to me.

Ummm yeah... I guess so.

No hard feelings, man. Just couldn't help myself. grin

Had to try bring a smile to someone's face, even tho the verbage was a bit obtuse. mrgreen

Valid complaints help the community

I've got a pair of 765t's, one for me & one for my wife. We've had no trouble with hers & lots with mine. I've posted in different threads here at the factory regarding those problems, not to whine or complain, but, in some cases to look for help, hopefully return the favor by helping someone else & most importantly document & validate others experiencing the same problems.

I rely on forums like these before any substantive purchase to get a feel for what real users are facing, their overall experiences & opinions. Reviews from sites that sell a given product tend to be mostly positive.

As I've stated in my other posts, I mostly love my Garmin, its features, design, ease of use & customer service. I will probably stay with them when it's time to replace & hope that I'll get lucky with a better unit. That being said, I've never become so familiar with another company's Tech Support team.

I think you said it best!

If we support each other, as we do in life in general, it will make our experience with our GPS unit's that much better.

Garmin Loses voice

I have a Nuvi 255W and on three occasions it has lost all of its voices. On two other occasions it has switched, all on its own, to Afrikan. Is this a unique fault with my unit or is it common?

Otherwise I am very happy with the unit. Much better than my old 2720 that finally failed.

Operator error

Concerning complaints: I've notice a few can be traced to operator error, such as not selecting the right alert.

This not to say that there aren't any real hardware problems but rather that there aren't as many as may appear here.

Firmware update should fix this.

The voice switching is a known issue and to the best of my knowledge was fixed in a firmware update. Use Webupdater to update your 255W to the latest firmware version.

Garmin Complaints

I am on my third Nuvi and had generally been pleased grin . I agree with the comments (1) if you get a bad unit it's a bad unit and (2) generally only the people with problems post them (although that is happily not the case here).

My issue is that they have the friendliest customer support people, but after 4 days of being on the phone with them mad my unit is still not able to display maps. I update my maps quarterly (not sure how many people here go through the quarterly map updating process ~ but it isn't too fun).

And today when I called for a status, they wanted me to hold 20 more minutes, then offered to have someone call me in 20 minutes but it's been an hour! twisted

Go figure

welcome...

Sorry 'bout your GPS problem.

FYI though, it seems like a competitive race amongst many members here for the map updates. The threads are burning leading up to the update release date. Its fun to read.

Garmin

I have 3 units e-trex H, e-trex Legend H and a nuvi 750 all units were priced right and all work well. Some times when people write in it is human error and not understanding how the unit works. I have used tech info once and my problem was resolved.
